It’s always a good idea to do quick studies before you commit to a painting. It makes it easier to make choices and experiment without the fear of messing up.

This is one of the studies I made while at Kilbear, during my latest video (check it out on Youtube in my highlights!).

This is the legendary tree I talked about in my video, the one that has inspired many artists (group of 7 included!). Working in ink and brush makes it easier to capture the flowy main shapes and get the “character” of the tree.

Do you also make study sketches before painting?

What’s better than a cozy camper, the sound of rain, and a watercolor set? In our latest video, let us take you to Killbear Provincial Park, where we will paint one of the iconic windswept pines that have inspired countless artists—including members of the Group of Seven!

Filmed from the comfort of my tiny 4x4 kei camper, this adventure is all about finding beauty in nature, even on a rainy day. This tiny mobile art studio proves that even the smallest space can spark big creativity.

Grab a warm drink, settle in, and join us for a peaceful painting session surrounded by the sounds of the Canadian wilderness. This one’s for all the campers, adventurers, and art lovers out there. Let’s paint the magic of the outdoors together. 🌲✨

Some time ago, I found myself at the stunning Killarney Provincial Park, surrounded by the peaceful embrace of autumn. The crisp air, golden leaves, and serene lakes reminded me how much there is to be grateful for—especially the simple, quiet moments in nature. 🌲✨

Even if you don’t traditionally celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s hard not to feel immense gratitude for the beauty of the natural world and the chance to soak it all in. Whether you’re spending time with loved ones or just enjoying a cozy weekend, I’m wishing you all the warmth and joy that this autumn season brings. 🍁🧡

Happy fall, everyone! May your days be filled with peace, creativity, and those small, magical moments that make life special. 🍂✨

Watercolor sketches from a trip to the Bruce Peninsula.

The rocky shore was the perfect inspiration for a few quick paintings. So many great subjects, so little time!

Painting these trees in Awenda Provincial Park was a lesson in patience and observation.

Using watercolor on-site, I layered washes to capture the shifting light and texture of the forest. The result is a reflection of the park’s quiet beauty.

There’s something truly magical about the tranquility of Killarney, Ontario—a place where the rugged landscapes and serene waters come together to create a canvas of natural beauty.

Nestled among this picturesque scenery, I keep finding inspiration not only in the breathtaking views but also in the simple joys of outdoor living. After the sun sets and I put my brushes away, there’s something else I really look forward to: a delicious camping dinner right by the fire.

Cooking outdoors adds a unique dimension to the whole painting outdoors experience. The steak and the potatoes, were more than just a meal—they were a celebration of the wilderness.
