Gardens By Barby Barby Schaefer is the proprietor of Gardens By Barby, a new source of open-pollinated seeds. Gardening is her pleasure and her obsession.

'Gardens by Barby’ is a new source of open-pollinated seeds for Canadian gardeners. Established in 2021 on the farm of Barby Schaefer in Eastern Ontario (Canada Hardiness Zone 5b) all seeds are produced and harvested on-site. Choosing the best quality seeds from a variety of native and non-native plants that are suitable for Canadian growing conditions, Barby provides you, the gardener, with certa

inty of hardiness. Plant descriptions share Barby’s experience with each plant and offer tips for making every plant choice the correct choice for your particular garden site. Barby Schaefer was born and raised in Eastern Ontario, Canada, and lives on a 100-acre farm near Brockville, Ontario, Canada. Having a life-long passion for all things growing, she planted her first garden at the age of five and hasn’t stopped since. For years, her farm was home to a variety of heritage breed livestock, organically raised outdoors and sold locally through her CSA and farmers’ markets in Ottawa. Now post livestock, she dedicates herself to an ever-growing number of vegetable and ornamental gardens. Barby is pleased to be sharing her knowledge and love of plants with you.
