Excited to coach these two!

We are thrilled to announce that two Olds College Landscape Horticulture students will be competing at the 2026 Skills Canada / Compétences Canada National Competition (SCNC) — taking place May 28 & 29 at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario — and we could not be more proud!

Getting our team competition-ready takes a community, and we are so grateful to the incredible sponsors who stepped up with tools, workwear and PPE to support our students:
💠Grainger Canada — for tools and consumables, and for their continued commitment to partnering with Olds College.
💠Milwaukee Tool — for the Packout Tool Boxes and Jig Saw.
💠SureWerx — for Pioneer Workwear, Jet Tools, Jackson Safety PPE and Sellstrom PPE.
💠Watson Gloves — for industry-aligned gloves tailored perfectly for landscaping applications
💠Linedrive — for Mechanix Wear Gloves and an amazing assortment of PPE and accessories.

Your generosity is making a real difference. This year we're sending not only our two Landscape Horticulture competitors, but also a secondary Welding competitor to Toronto — and safe to say, their excitement is an understatement!

Thank you for investing in the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Olds College is proud of our students and grateful for partners who believe in them.

Look for them on any Poplar, Aspen, Apple, Cherry or Saskatoon… (that includes Schubert Chokecherry, Mayday and Amur or Ming Cherry)

The best control right now is to scrape them into a bucket of soapy water and drown them before they eat all the leaves on your trees! Also, encourage the birds in your yard!!

Well everyone, they’re hatching!!! Check your columnar poplars, cherries, apples and Saskatoons for these little crawlers and squish em now while you can!

Forest Tent Caterpillars are very aggressive feeders and will defoliate your trees entirely.
