Prone to mistakes when knitting? Me too πŸ€—πŸ€ͺ

I tend to re-start projects a few times until I figure out what I'm doing..and yes, it can be rather frustrating 😬

BUT! Ive found a solution that makes it better! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I've started adding in a contrast colour string πŸ€πŸ’™

HOW IT WORKS:

🌟 When you reach a point in your work that you won't want to redo, use a Darning Needle to bring a piece of yarn through the Loops on your needles
(Note - do NOT pull your needles out).

🌟 If you need to redo your work, pull out your needles and pull on your working yarn to remove your stitches.

🌟 The contrast yarn will automatically stop it! Once you can't pull your working yarn any further, use your needles to pick up the stitches from the contrast yarn.

🌟 Continue on as normal πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Once you're satisfied that you won't want to go back to that section, cut the contrast yarn, pull it out, and continue on πŸ₯°

My Dreamland Sock Pattern is slowly coming along 🧦

I'm taking the time to test knit all of the sizes myself, because I *conveniently* have family with all different sized feet who want a pair πŸ˜‚

Anyone else make their patterns in all different sizes? πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Merry Christmas Friends! β™₯οΈπŸŽ„

I hope you have been enjoying some relaxed slow time over the Holidays.

I've been spending my days knitting while cuddled up on my parent's couch.

And now I'm happy to say that after two failed attempts, I have finally figured out how to knit a Christmas stocking 😁

I've got one stocking being blocked (second picture) and five more to go! πŸ₯°

These colours though! 😍

Pattern Design Update:

I think I have FINALLY gotten the sweater yoke to the right size and will (thankfully) not have to frog it out again πŸ€ͺ

Now for the newest challenge....tension 😳

After a number of years of practice, I am pretty good at keeping my tension even with TWO colours of yarn. But with THREE and FOUR, that's a whole different ball game.

Seriously, if anybody has any tips on how to keep yarn from tangling and twisting so quick please please please let me know.

I think that's the key culprit of my tension issues when working with multiple colours 🧐

With this cold weather coming on, I got some inspiration to knit a big, warm cozy hat using some chunky yarn! ❄️

I've been testing out a new stitch that I've never tried before and it's ADORABLE. It adds the exact amount of "ompf" & definition I was hoping it would β™₯️

And now after taking this picture, I am adding a chunky headband to the "to-knit" list....

Anyone else feel like there's just so many things to make and not enough time??

Swatches, Swatches, and More Swatches! ✨

I'm trying to make a dedicated effort to improve my knitting skills.

After some consideration, I figured it's best to head back to the basics and practice, practice, practice!

My goal is to channel these new skills into my knitting designs to take them to the next level!

I love hearing about how other people learn best...What's your favourite way to level up your skills?

Are you a hands on learner or more of a watch and remember/repeat? πŸ‘‡

Attempt three has been a success so far! πŸ’›

Lesson's learned since starting to design my own colour work sweater:

1. The way the colour increases look on paper is way different than on the needles. After a second attempt I decided to leave the increases as a solid colour.

2. You can put the short rows to make the back of the neck longer than the front either by the collar or middle of the sweater, depending on your design.

I am super excited to see how the rest of the pattern turns out on my needles πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Wish me luck on attempt number three!

Have you ever tried something and failed?

This was supposed to be my sizing guide, but needless to say it hasn't gone as planned...

I honestly thought I'd be more frustrated after putting in so many hours, but before I started I expected that I would need to attempt this a few times.

I have already learned SO much and am focusing on simply enjoying the process.

I've already pulled this out and watched plenty of more videos on YouTube, so hopefully the next attempt goes better!

Stay tuned for the next attempt!

Project Update: I am about half way done the yoke.

This has been very interesting for me. I spent a LOT of time using Stitch Fiddle trying to draw out the pattern and figuring out how it would look as I increased stitches.

Eventually I just gave up and started knitting. πŸ€ͺ

With smaller knitwear, like hats & mittens, I really enjoy mapping out the designs and doing the math before I start knitting.

But for this project, it hasn't felt natural. I've calculated how many stitches I need to increase per row, but mapping the design hasn't worked out so good πŸ™„

So far I'm liking what has been coming out on my needles, but I really want to learn how to pre-plan fair isle sweaters so that I can write the pattern up as I go.

I've done a lot of searching on Youtube and Social Media. but haven't had much luck finding content on that specific topic.

If you have any channels that you follow that might be able to help, I would LOVE if you could flip it over to me πŸ™πŸΌβ™₯️

A little sneak peak at my talented drawing skills, and the inspo for my new sweater πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Ž

Don't worry, the finished product *should* look much better! πŸ˜‚βœŒπŸΌ

Although I'm not the best, drawing lets me get my ideas out of my head and on paper...If I'm feeling inspired I sit down and draw pattern ideas that are coming to the front of my brain. πŸ€“

This way, I can always go back and knit them when I want to cast on something new! Not to mention, I'm not stressing about forgetting one of my ideas! πŸ’‘
