Colizza Bruni Architecture is an architecture studio based in Ottawa, ON Canada.

On Saturday May 13th, the CBA team participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Keith Brown Community Building in Laroche Park.

Keith Brown is an incredibly generous and kind-hearted man who selflessly gives to his community. He has lived in Mechanicsville for over 90 years and has been the "caretaker" of Laroche Park and the rink nearly his entire life. It is such an honour to have the building we designed named after this amazing person.

Poplar Street Development by day and night.

This new development, completed in collaboration with UrbanForm and built by , is comprised of a pair of long semis with a shared driveway and parking tucked underneath the new units. The massing is animated by a playful composition of wood and metal which echoes the cladding found on the existing homes that make up most of Little Italy’s urban fabric.

The Carlyle Treehouse (2017)

Each side of the freehold semi is unique in plan and form with parking discretely accessed from an abutting lane. The new semi-detached reinterprets vernacular elements, such as the dormer and bay window, in an expression that is contemporary. The massing is articulated and dynamic with a series of smaller forms shifting amongst the trees. The northern unit steps back on the third floor while a dormer that echoes the large dormer of the original house projects forward. In the southern unit, a modern bay window cantilevers out into the trees while the third floor steps back to product a roof deck. The build form responds to its context and in turn a material palette (which shifts from cedar, to metal, to glass and cement board) responds to the built form.

The Carlyle Treehouse (2017)

This infill development at the corner of Aylmer and Carlyle Avenues in the neighbourhood of Old Ottawa South, consists of the renovation of an existing century old house which faces Alymer Avenue and two new semi-detached homes facing Carlyle Avenue. The design began with the intent to preserve the existing house and the stand of nature street trees along Carlyle. The result is a playful light-filled “treehouse-like” semi-detached in the rear yard of the original home.

We are pleased to announce that CBA won both categories in which we were nominated at the 2022 Greater Ottawa Home Builder Association awards.

The Mechanicsville Semi-Detached won “Custom Urban Home: Semi-Detached & Multi-Unit” and The Cedarlakes Residence, with , won “Custom Home: 3,000 sq. ft or less”.

We would like to thank the contractors, trades, consultants, collaborators and clients who helped make these projects a reality.
