Sharing some photos of a garden we designed and installed earlier this fall. This project involved getting rid of the lawn, removing landscape fabric, reusing the concrete blocks to create a border along the edge of the new garden, amending the soil, adding stepping stones and installing new (mostly all native) plants! Did you know that fall is a great time of year to start thinking about spring planting projects? If you have any in mind, feel free to reach out and we can start the design process over the winter months!

For this recent garden installation, we removed sod and added in many colourful perennials including lots of native and near native species such as butterfly milkw**d, gray headed coneflower, scarlet bee balm, lance leaf coreopsis, ironw**d, bluestar amsonia, purple coneflower, black eyed Susan, uvularia, woodland phlox and blue false indigo, and we left space in the middle for the homeowners to plant their garlic!

For this garden project, we removed a front lawn, designed and planted a new garden filled with native species and a few ornamental favourites, did some pruning and re staking for a damaged birch tree, made up some fall planters, and built a flagstone walkway. We’ll continue visiting this garden regularly for ongoing maintenance and are looking forward to seeing it fill in!

Here at Well Grounded, we are just getting started on late summer and fall garden installations. Fall is a great time to plant for many reasons: warm soil temperatures and cooler air temperatures encourage root growth but reduce plant stress, more frequent rainfall reduces the need for watering, and there is less w**d competition. It is also a great time to prepare new garden beds for Spring plantings. We have space in our schedule for more fall plantings so if you’re looking for a new garden, feel free to reach out to set up a consultation!

Gardening is almost wrapped up for the season and we're busy making holiday planters and wreaths. This year, 10% from each sale will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peterborough!

We also do custom planters so if you have your own containers, we can come to you or you can drop them off.
