Finished the clean up last week from a job that got snowed out late last fall up in Baysville. 17 birch, poplar and ash trees all with heavy leans into the cottage and bunkie. It was a rough clean up but both the customer and I are happy it is all sorted out.

Three reasons why winter is the best time for routine tree maintenance:
1- No leaves: with no leaves on the tree this will allow your tree specialist to really get a look at what needs to be done to improve tree health, diagnose any disease the tree may have and come up with a prescription. (No leaves also means easier clean up which translates to cheaper prices for you!)
2- Trees go dormant in the winter allowing a tree specialist to prune dead and diseased limbs with significantly lower risk to damaging the rest of the healthy tree.
3- Preventative maintenance: by getting the dead and dangerous limbs off the tree in a safe and controlled manner, before that inevitable winter storm rolls through, protects your property, power lines etc. from being damaged.

I haven't posted in a while so here is a quick video of a white pine, close to 100' getting toppled over. It's up in Port Carling at a beautiful cottage getting ready for a massive renovation. It was a fun drop!!
