California patches for the win!

When doing a California patch, we like to use hot mud. "Hot mud" (or setting-type compound) is a powdered drywall compound that hardens via a chemical reaction rather than just drying, allowing for fast, multi-coat projects in a single day. Not only does it dry harder which makes it stronger, it shrinks less as well.

On this project, we colour-matched brand new entry doors with the help of Sherwin-Williams and used their Duration acrylic line with a satin finish on this garage door for long lasting performance and durability. We also installed new weather stripping to make the door stand out. Out with the old, in with the new.

This customer reached out to us about stained and damaged plaster ceilings in their kitchen and bathroom. While we were there, they also wanted 6 interior doors replaced in the same area.

We worked with them to provide the best solution at a fair price and completed the project efficiently and on schedule.

We recently had a repeat customer reach out about an issue in their bathroom — their tile grout kept cracking and falling out of the joints.

After taking a closer look, we discovered the problem: the thin-set mortar was bonded to the subfloor, but the tiles themselves weren’t properly bonded to the thin-set. This is exactly why back-buttering tile is so important for a long-lasting installation.

We removed the loose tiles, chipped away the old mortar, properly prepped the surface, and reset the tiles the right way.

This customer wanted a doggie door installed in her garden door. You ask, and you shall receive!

I custom-built a replacement panel using plywood, wrapped it in aluminum for durability and a clean finish, then cut and installed the doggie door right into the new insert. The result? A solid, weather-resistant setup that keeps the original door intact and looks great.
