🔨HIRING: Lead Carpenter / Carpenter – High-End Decks & Outdoor Structures
Hickory Dickory Decks – London / Middlesex
We build premium, detail-driven decks and outdoor structures. This is not production hack work. We care about layout, finish quality, material protection, and doing things in the right sequence.
We’re also building a team capable of training Red Seal carpentry apprentices, so qualifications and mentoring ability matter here.
What we’re looking for:
• Carpenters or site leads who care about precision and clean finishes
• Comfortable on high-end residential projects
• Measures twice, protects materials, cleans as they go
• Can follow plans and systems (ideas welcome, decisions followed)
• Has a vehicle and basic tools
• Professional on client sites
Major hiring & pay priority:
Candidates with the following will be strongly prioritized and compensated accordingly:
• Ontario C of Q (403A)
• Red Seal Endorsement (RSE)
• Ability to mentor apprentices to Red Seal standards
• Experience supervising or training apprentices
• Comfortable teaching and signing off skills from the training standard
We will still consider strong, experienced carpenters without a C of Q, but if you want senior responsibility, leadership, and top-end pay, Red Seal / C of Q is a big advantage here.
Pay:
• $30–45/hr depending on level (Carpenter → Senior / Site Lead / Mentor)
• May include performance bonuses, company vehicle access, and benefits for the right long-term, senior candidates
• Paid trial: $26/hr for 1–3 days to confirm fit with our systems and standards
• Final role and rate set after trial based on quality, reliability, leadership, and trust level
Nice to have:
• Experience with composite decking, rails, stairs, trim, exterior finish work
• Ability to lead parts of a job or mentor juniors
• Experience in occupied, high-end residential environments
How to apply:
Send a short intro + 5–10 photos of recent work (close-ups encouraged).
Let us know if you hold a C of Q, Red Seal, or have apprentice mentoring experience.
If you’re proud of your work, respect systems, and want to build at a higher standard, we’ll get along great.
