The main floor is finished! We think it turned out great. I always love the feeling of pulling carpet up for the first time and holding your breath, and waiting for either a nice surprise or a bit of a letdown.
This floor had the " Swedish finish" put on as a top coat.

Did you know when the installers were starting these floors. They would start on the outside and work their way to the middle. If you have an old floor, you can inspect the planks in the middle, and generally, you'll find one in the middle with a slight taper or one that's smaller than the rest.
As this stage in the renovation is complete, we are looking forward to having the stairs completed and the doors installed !

I always thought the borders on the older hardwood floors would be a solid wood like walnut or ebony. Little did I know. They're actually hardboard (cousin of mdf) that's been cured in acid for a day.
We needed a solution as the placement for the newly constructed bathroom did have the border at the end of the floor. We also don't have access to a full day of curing strips of hardboard in acid : Solution Black walnut.
All hardwood floors Ltd spent some time routering the old floor to create the 45° border and delicately fitted the walnut inlay to match with the old hardboard.
We think it looks great thus far! Can't wait to see the finished product!

This house has been full of surprises. To be honest, they've not been great surprises. But while we were in demolition, we discovered this gem of a floor underneath the carpet !
It's really stood the test of time as you can see the floor has minimal damage and almost gap free. As the upstairs kitchen and bathrooms are 90% complete, it's time to bring this oak floor back to life ! We can't wait to see the final product ! Thanks to All Hardwood Floors / AHF
