Sandy McMullen : Painting If the world of art seems like a mystery to you, someone has led you astray or shaken your confidence in your instincts. Let me help demystify art.

I will share my painting process from start to finish plus give lots of principles and tips along the way. Although my personal inspiration comes from an idea that captures my attention, my goal is to have the work invite others to engage in exploring what it means to them. I had this experience standing in front of a Jack Bush painting at the AGO and was hooked for life. In the spring of 2007, my

show Inner Landscapes II was inspired from sketches that clients did expressing aspects of their own Myers Briggs personality profile. The show became theatre as people engaged in animated conversation about which of the 33 paintings captured their preferences. Our complex world can grind us down. Staying connected to beauty, imaginative thinking, and authentic conversation inspires us and fosters resilience. My work now focuses on these central themes. I see my paintings as metaphors that allow the viewer to build their own story.
