What's under the dome? Friday feature!🌸

A pattern that has so many details and a beautiful flower motif!

Patterns that were made after the turn of the century often include many details as the market demanded that (competing with the look of more expensive cut glass), and glass makers had better tools available to carve molds. This pattern was made by Imperial Glass, of Bellaire Ohio who numbered most of their patterns, rather than naming them.

Imperial # 474 was made around 1910, but was quickly nicknamed "Cosmos". It was an instant hit, as it included the details the market demanded, but also a robust Cosmos flower.

The pattern made a large number of pieces including, water and milk pitchers, fruit bowls, compote, celery vase, relish dishes, vinegar cruet, creamer, sugar, spooner, butter dish but also a few odd pieces, like a tumbler, marmalade jar and a punch set! It was made in clear glass and also with an iridized finish, which was popular at the time.

The goblet itself was made in a 4 part mold and has 4 main panels. In the centre of each panel is a large, bold Cosmos flower, that appears to be framed by deep grooves to accent the pattern. Separating each panel is a large sunburst motif. The stem is panelled in 8 panels leading to the foot which is also 8 sided. Note the intricate, large sunburst motif on the base!

The goblet has a beautifully flared lip, nice weight and a good balance! If you love flowers and lots of detail, this one might be for you!

Cheers to the weekend! Happy Father's Day and Summer Solstice! We hope that you have an amazing weekend! πŸ₯‚

It's Peony season! And for these beauties it takes a perfect vase! 🌸

We have been patiently waiting for our beautiful peonies to open and show us their beauty...and overnight it happened! 😍
They are so beautiful and their flowering time is so short, so we brought some indoors to enjoy! 🌸

We have often talked about the Fenton Glass Company and how they must have known about ladies love gardening and love for flowers. They made vases in all shapes, sizes & colours for all types of flowers!

One of the most unique vases that Fenton made was a "FAN" shaped vase, which flower lovers find hard to use. Not all flowers will work in this vase! They were specifically made to force flower stems to spread out neatly, instead of bunching them up.

With this in mind, Olga found the perfect vase for her peonies! πŸ˜‰

Featured today!

We hope everyone is having a great week!πŸ’—

Celebrating the first world cup being played in Canada and our Canadian Men's Team! Go Canada Go...we are so very proud of you! πŸ™ŒπŸ’ͺ

A pattern with a classic Art Deco design & clean simplicity!

"Pleat and Panel" is a pattern that was originally produced by The Bryce, Walker & Co. in Pittsburgh, in 1882. It is believed that the pattern was later produced by The Burlington Glass Works, giving it Canadian production.

It was a large and popular pattern, producing a lot of pieces. This includes, milk & water pitchers, cake stand, celery vase, covered compotes, marmalade, rectangular covered bowls, water tray, platter, creamer, sugar, spooner, butter dish etc. The pattern came primarily in clear, but a few pieces were made in amethyst, vaseline and amber.

The goblet was made in a three part mold and has three large squares of stippled panels in the main design. In between each panel on the mold line is a panel of ribs. Framing the main pattern is a band of ribs on top and under the pattern.

Have a look at that stem! A beautifully detailed group of stippled panels forming a column! At a time when Pressed Glass making was booming and detailed elaborate patterns were plentiful, an art deco pattern was a complete opposite, and was an instant hit!

The goblet is very light weight and has a good feel!

Cheers to the weekend and we hope you will be cheering on Canada in the first game this afternoon!πŸ₯‚ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Celebrating Pride Month with the beauty of vintage Fire King by Anchor Hocking Glass! 🌈

May this be a month of kindness, celebrating diversity & equality! Love is love! ❀️

We couldn't think about something more special to celebrate this month than this gorgeous set!

This is a pattern made by Anchor Hocking Glass in the 1950's - 60's. It came in plain white, Jadeite and even decorated with beautiful colours! There were only three sizes made in this stackable bowl set!

When it comes to good kitchenware....condition is so important! Yes, sets were used and many were sent to cottages as people bought new. So, often there is colour ware and usage scratching, but rarely a set that turns up in pristine condition!

Only the second set we have had!

🌈 Available! Pristine & like new condition!
DM for details!

Happy Pride Month everyone! Let's share your kindness & love! ❀️

A pattern made in Nova Scotia that has many east coast characteristics! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

"Nova Scotia Floral" aka "Round Marsh Pink" is a pattern that was made by The Nova Scotia Glass Co. in the 1880's. This company, sadly only lasted for 9 years, so production was limited. There were very few pieces made in this pattern, including the creamer, sugar, spooner, butter dish and marmalade, with a glass or silver plated lid. As this company had very limited financial resources & molds were expensive to make, it is very likely this pattern had a short production run, which leads to its scarcity today.

Marsh Pink? Have you heard about this flower?? It is a new one for us, so we did a little research. It is a flower that grows in salty coastal marshes primarily on the East Coast. 🌼

The goblet itself is a simple pattern. Made in a three part mold there are three panels of two large flowers with leaves and buds ready to bloom. There is a stippled band above the whole pattern to finish the overall look. Note: the mold line in between the panels. It has a lovely vine hiding the mold separation line.
➑️ to πŸ‘€ closer details.

A very well designed pattern with a good weight with gorgeous details and a good feel.

Overall the Nova Scotia Glass Company made about 18 goblet patterns. This is considered to be one of the more desirable and rare goblets, in the top three!

If you are looking for beauty and rarity and love Nova Scotia Glass, then this is a treasure! πŸ₯‚

What's under the dome? Friday feature! πŸ¦—

A unique pattern in Pressed Glass that never made a goblet in the original production....why?πŸ€”

The warmer weather is soon to be here, and soon we will see grasshoppers everywhere!πŸ¦—πŸ˜Š

"Grasshopper" was a pattern made by The Riverside Glass Works, West Virginia in 1883. Due to the challenging molds required, there were only a few basic pieces made, including a water pitcher, celery vase, covered and open fruit bowls, pickle jar, open salt, creamer, sugar, spooner and butter dish. For some reason, the pattern designer decided not to make a goblet for the original pattern which is odd, as goblet popularity was at an all time high!

The pattern itself is quite simple and plain on all pieces and some pieces had etching in the plain areas and most pieces carry a three dimensional grasshopper on three sides of the piece and some pieces also have a decorative leaf design around the mold line area to hide it. 🌱

The LG Wright Glass Company created a new goblet in this pattern in 1968, long after the original pattern was made. The goblet is made in a three part mold and is quite plain, except for three large grasshoppers sitting on the side of the goblet! There is also a leaf motif under the grasshopper to hide the mold line. They were made in clear, turquoise blue, amber and cobalt blue.
➑️ to see closer details πŸ‘€

These goblets now fall into the vintage period and have become quite desirable as with most LG Wright goblets.

If you're looking for a conversation piece in a goblet, this one is unique! πŸ¦—πŸŒ±

Cheers to the weekend! Enjoy the sun and beautiful weather! πŸ₯‚β˜€οΈ

A pattern that has a vibrant floral motif & lots of unique details! πŸ’

"Panelled Daisy" is a pattern that was made by The Bryce Bros. Glass Co. in Pittsburgh in 1890. It was a popular pattern that produced a lot of pieces, including a water pitcher, celery vase, cake stand, syrup pitcher. covered compote, oval relish, creamer, sugar, spooner, butter dish etc.

The original pattern was made in clear with a few pieces in opaque white. In the 1960's, a few pieces in the pattern were re- issued from new molds, including the goblet in amber, blue, pink, ruby and clear. Although quite convincing, the re- issue is heavier and lacks the fine details of the original!

The goblet itself has beautiful details & daisies growing in panels. The goblet is made in a three part mold, so there are six panels of daisies all around the bowl. The daisies are adorned by beautiful leaves and greenery. In between the panels is a bevelled bar and and panels of half circles that are stippled. This design frames the flowers so that it stands out! It is finished with a nice, plain stem.

➑️ to see closer details! 🌼

The bowl of the goblet is tapered, so it is easy to hold & it has a pleasing look and is well balanced!

🌼 Goblet available! DM for more details!
