Life has taken a beautiful and unexpected turn. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I’ve recently moved to Nanaimo — and I’m also pregnant 🤍
This season has become one of nesting in every sense of the word.

I’m designing and decorating an entire suite from the ground up — installing cabinets, building a ton of IKEA furniture, and creating a space that is entirely my own design. I’m excited to show what’s possible when you start with a blank slate and make a thoughtful investment in how a space functions and feels.

A huge thank you to my parents, who painted everything, cleared out the space, and gave me a true blank canvas in record time — and who took me in when I really needed it. I couldn’t do this without them.

Deciding what to charge for my services has been one of the hardest parts of starting Kari Rose Makes Space. As a small, one-woman business, I’ve had to find a balance between honoring the value of my time and skills while also being mindful that I’m new and building my business.

My pricing reflects the care, energy, and personalized attention I bring to each client, as well as the behind-the-scenes work that makes your organizing sessions run smoothly. It’s important to me that my services feel approachable while still sustainable as I grow.

🐈‍⬛ Meet the Team: Our Wildcard Intern 🐾

Everyone, meet Ophelia — our resident chaos coordinator, reformed feral, and reigning queen of curiosity. She joined the team with a lot of energy, zero house manners, and no interest in doing things the “expected” way (she fits right in 😅).

As a high-spirited indoor cat with a scrappy start to life, she’s kept us on our toes — and she’s taught me a ton about organizing for real life, not just for looks.

💩 Let’s talk litter: Her “freeform” approach to using the box pushed me to find a better solution. I ended up choosing a sleek yet affordable piece of furniture that doubles as concealed litter storage — functional, discreet, and easy to clean.

🍽️ Because she and Penelope don’t always see eye-to-eye at mealtime, I needed to rethink the feeding setup. I came up with a creative plan to separate food zones — and huge shoutout to my partner for bringing that vision to life.

🐦 To keep her stimulated (and out of trouble), I installed a bird feeder outside my window and added a cozy perch — it’s now her office, and honestly, the productivity there might rival mine.

🎾 Her supplies, toys, and grooming bits are stored in clearly labeled bins, organized with just as much care as Penelope’s. Because whether you’re two-legged or four, everyone deserves systems that support their needs and quirks.

Being a pet parent has helped shape my organizing style in big ways — it’s not about perfection, it’s about function, flexibility, and creating space that works for everyone in the home. Even the ones who climb the curtains. 🐾

🐾 Meet the Team: My Right-Paw Assistant 🐾

This is Penelope — my sweet sidekick, unofficial quality control supervisor, and the real boss behind the scenes at Kari Rose Makes Space 🐶✨

She may be small, but don’t be fooled — Penelope comes with some pretty complex medical needs, and that means a LOT of specialized supplies, equipment, and daily routines. Think: medications, feeding gear, mobility tools, and emergency backups… all in a small lower level suite.

Living with a pet who has health needs pushed me to get really creative about how to organize our space. I had to make room for all of her essentials without letting our home feel like a storage closet. Every bin, basket, and shelf has been intentionally designed to keep things functional for me — and also clear and easy to follow for our amazing dog sitter (a registered veterinary technician from the local emergency hospital, who cared for Penelope during one of her many admissions 💕).

This journey reminded me that organizing isn’t about making things “picture perfect” — it’s about making space work beautifully for your real life, with all its unique needs. And yes, that includes wagging tails and pill organizers!

Hi, I’m Kari Rose — the heart behind Makes Space.
As a kid, I was the one organizing my friends’ rooms for fun. That early love of order stuck with me, and over the years it’s become something more — a true calling.

By trade, I’m a nurse. I work in organ retrieval, tissue donation, and in the operating room — where I quickly learned that being organized isn’t just helpful, it’s essential. I’ve been lucky to bring my eye for systems and flow into one of the most high-stakes, fast-paced environments there is.

I live in beautiful Victoria, BC with my French bulldog and my kitten. I’m also a proud fifth-generation Islander — this coast runs deep in my veins.

I’ve moved more times than I can count and organized every space I’ve ever lived in. I’ve refined my own home and office, and helped my partner turn his place into a space that works for him. Through it all, I’ve discovered that I’m not just good at organizing — I love it.

Now, I’m bringing that passion into the homes of others — helping people transform their spaces into something that’s not just tidy, but functional, calming, and deeply personal.
