Housing extension, 2025, Pully CH

The municipality of Pully is currently questioning the densification of its territory. The majority of built-up plots are subject to tabula rasa in order to maximize buildable surfaces.

With a view to gentle densification, the project proposes to take the current 1-storey mansard roof and preserve the pre-existing lines and materiality. The result is a one-storey addition that saves resources, preserves the embedded carbon and integrates through evolution rather than substitution.

In a built-up context under severe economic pressure, can gentle densification find weapons in pre-existing forms without falling into the trap of a nostalgic vision?

The convent of the Marcelline Sisters in Milan, built in 1961 by Max Richter and Marcel Gut, currently houses the French high school of Lausanne . This brutalist building, strongly inspired by Le Corbusier's La Tourette, is listed as a Grade II listed building and its façade, decorated with prefabricated concrete sunshades, is remarkable.

From its construction until 2012, the building housed a girls' boarding school. After a few years outside it’s walls, the school wanted to bring the boarding school back into the historic building, reusing the nuns' rooms to do so. The project involves updating the original rooms and bringing the fire protection systems up to standard.
At the crossroads between historical substance, architectural considerations, technical constraints and user needs, the architectural project is becoming more complex and, more than ever, a collaboration between different actors.

The château de Mollens, located at the foot of the Jura mountains, is distinguished by a large number of outbuildings for private use that can serve as residential properties. It is listed as a Grade 1 heritage site and the entire site, comprising historic gardens, is now part of the ISOS inventory.

Although neglected and transformed many times during the 20th century, its heritage value is nevertheless significant and deserves to be integrated into a phased restoration project. Architecture and history cannot be separated. What layer of history, what trace of our intervention will we leave behind in this place?

La volonté est de réunir de manière informelle les passionnés ou curieux de la construction en terre et en matériaux géo et biosourcés.

L'édition 2025 aura lieu le Samedi 20 Sept. 2025. Les inscriptions sont obligatoires sur www.terrecrue.ch.
