From 28 September to 2 October 2026, the 28th Session of the FAO Committee on Forestry (COFO 28) and the 10th World Forest Week (WFW 2026) will bring together governments, forestry leaders, experts, partner organizations and youth at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, and online.
COFO provides an important platform for identifying emerging policies and technical priorities, sharing solutions and guiding future action on forests.
The discussions at COFO 28 are highly relevant to the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), particularly efforts to conserve, restore and sustainably manage forest ecosystems while advancing broader sustainable development goals. Strengthening synergies between forest and biodiversity agendas will be essential to achieving global commitments for nature, climate and people.
As countries accelerate the implementation of the , and 2026 offer an important opportunity to exchange knowledge, showcase innovation and advance integrated solutions for forests and biodiversity.
