Lebü is a project created by Viviane Tabach, centered on the investigation of clay as both material and process. Through a range of handbuilding techniques, the project develops pieces marked by visible gestures, tactile surfaces, and ongoing material experimentation. The making process follows a rhythm that emerges through the encounter with the clay itself — shaped by attentiveness to the material, its responses, resistances, and the forms of knowledge it reveals through touch and repetition. This approach is also informed by references from painting, drawing, and woodcarving, techniques that have been part of Tabach’s earlier practice and continue to influence her understanding of gesture, texture, and form.
Each work is shaped individually and never reproduced, emphasizing singularity in contrast to the standardized rhythms of industrial production and drawing attention to the slower temporalities inherent to working with clay.
With studios in São Paulo and Berlin, Lebü also seeks to expand access to ceramic practices through workshops, collaborative learning formats, and the production of educational and artistic content.
