It is nature’s quiet architecture — found in honeycombs, crystals, waves, storms, even galaxies. A geometry of balance, efficiency, and silent harmony.

In our design philosophy, the hexagon symbolizes the sun: source of warmth, growth, rhythm, and life itself. It echoes bread — the most elemental form of nourishment, shared across cultures as a symbol of abundance and human connection.

A form both ancient and future-facing.
Structured, yet organic.
Precise, yet deeply emotional.

For us, the hexagon represents the essence of well-being: the meeting point between nature, design, and human existence. A reminder that true luxury is not excess, but balance.

Beyond the Obvious

The Mediterranean is often reduced to expectation.
Citrus. Freshness. The postcard.

For D:SOL, this image was never enough.
Shaped between Berlin and Mallorca, the Mediterranean remains open — not fixed, but shifting.

Rather than defining it through familiar codes, D:SOL approaches it as atmosphere.

Warm stone. Dry herbs. Resin in the air.
A table at dusk. Voices carried through evening light.

The concept of atmosphere creates orientation.
It allows you to enter a fragrance before judging it — to sense the creative intention before identifying individual notes.

Within D:SOL, four Mediterranean atmospheres emerge:

OPEN LIGHT — radiant, luminous, expansive.
LIVING GREEN — vibrant, herbal, diffused through shades of green.
SOLAR GROUND — mineral warmth, dry earth, sun-baked air.
DEEP SHADES — resinous depth, sensual warmth, unfolding into the night.

From bright citrus air to darker grounds and nocturnal shadows,
each fragrance moves within this field — between light and depth, air and earth.

Receiving an Honorable Mention at the 2026 Art and Olfaction Awards feels deeply personal.

In a year with submissions from 48 countries across every continent except Antarctica, this recognition carries even greater meaning. To be acknowledged among such a diverse and inspiring global community of independent perfumery is both humbling and deeply rewarding.

Creating fragrance, for me, has never been about following familiar scent codes or repeating expected DNA. It is about looking beneath the surface—creating olfactory narratives that go beyond the traditional approach, guided by intuition, emotion, and the dialogue between human experience and nature.

The Mediterranean remains at the heart of this vision: light and shadow, earth and sea, closeness and distance. Together with our perfumer, these contrasts become stories—where creative direction meets composition, and fragrance becomes atmosphere, memory, and identity.

A warm thank you to Delphine Thierry, for this beautiful and soulful creation, The Institute for Art and Olfaction, to the judges, to everyone involved, and to this remarkable community that continues to believe in perfumery and its power as an art form.

Warm stones holding the memory of the sun.

In this rugged Mediterranean terrain, where wind, salt and heat shape the land, the rock rose grows — resilient, almost defiant. A plant of quiet strength, known for its healing resin and its deep, ambery warmth.

Cistus by D:SOL captures this atmosphere:
earth warmed by light, rough landscapes softened by a delicate bloom.

The resin of rock rose unfolds in earthy, balsamic nuances — rich, golden, almost skin-like — wrapped in rose, incense and dry woods. A scent that feels like sun on stone, like silence after heat, like nature enduring.

The hexagon is the most common shape found in nature.
From honeycombs to minerals and cellular structures, it appears wherever nature seeks balance, strength, and efficiency.

We chose it as our abstract sun —
a form shaped by light and natural order.
A symbol of energy, harmony, and the source of all wellbeing.
