Rough around the edges but I can see past it. I think that’s what’s great about living in a reno, it’s really scruffy at times but it doesn’t matter, there’s a vision. It’s slow. In other words the design process/progress is holistic, considered and I wanna live in it before I change it too much. Taking it slow is a good thing.

Smoothing this wall down has been a journey.

From 2 layers of wood chip wallpaper, thick paint and rough textured wall to a nice smooth surface. Admittedly it looks like that beautiful plaster paint finish that is high on trend but it’ll dry a lot more pale and need sealing, it’s really a surface finish ready for a next step. I’m super happy with the results. I won’t paint until all the walls in room are smooth. So for now it’s just a happy dance that I’ve got one wall smooth.

I can’t believe it’s been just over a year.


Sometimes that time feels right but mostly, I’d say, it only feels like a few months ago. It’s not a simple case like have the op, feel better. It’s much more complex. And I’m still working on it. But the main thing is that the big problem (broken shunt) has been fixed. No shaking in pain as I wake (that was with me every single day). So it’s a massive relief. Daily pain still occurs in various wild ways but at a lower level than before.
Life has changed so much since the op. A new house, owners!, renovation, issues, shunt adjustments, fatigue etc etc.
I’m not done with the design world, my hiatus is just taking a little longer than expected. So I’ll hop on here now and again but for now I’m sitting thinking “I can’t believe it’s been just over a year, so much has happened!”

Well all this effort is going into a stylish wheelie bin area.
Yep, for bins. Details count everywhere.
While I’m on a strict budget I’m focusing on spaces I use daily or most frequent. And I hate our current bins situation. So it was a no brainer, I’ll post more soon 🗑 💚 🍃
