The Bookshop was set up as a new business on 1st September 2010 by Annie Walter. The main aim behind The Bookshop is to provide a friendly, efficient and interesting shop in which residents and visitors to Alderney can browse at leisure and purchase books and related goods. The range of books available includes thrillers, biographies, classics, general fiction, history, military history and refere

nce works with sections on cookery, gardening, sport, well-being, hobbies, travel and humour. Many recent publications of interest in all categories are always available with special offers on price where available. We cannot compete with the major online book suppliers on price regarding recent best sellers and the like but do find that prices are comparable for other books.

‘The Bookshop is a member of the Hive initiative www.hive.co.uk launched in September 2011 for the promotion of independent bookshops. This is an exciting new development in the sale of books online at competitive prices – the purchaser logs on to the Hive website, chooses from the vast range of books and DVDs available at very competitive prices, pays online and nominates The Bookshop as the chosen collection point for the goods which are available to be collected within 2/3 days. More information about the Hive initiative is available from Annie at The Bookshop.

Hi everyone,
As we begin the Christmas season I have a special mention for a cookery book called 'Soup for Syria' which is now on sale in The Bookshop. The big hardback book contains wonderful soup recipes contributed by many famous chefs including Yotam Ottolenghi and Anthony Bourdain - great for winter! - and is beautifully illustrated. The whole price of £18.99 will be given to the UNHCR to help them look after refugees in the camps in the Middle East and to feed as many people as possible - no one will make a profit except the refugees who need food and shelter. Please support this cause if you would like to by buying a copy of the book from The Bookshop or any other good bookshop and please pass this message on to as many people as you can. Many thanks. Annie.
