Another double gate complete for a customer. 2 traditional mortice and tenon gates now completed on this job. Ive had great fun making these and Deeside have been enjoying them too. I have made more gates this year than i have in the last 10 years! All gates this year have been made from locally sourced Scottish Larch which makes it that much sweeter. With more gates on order i best get back to work!

From start to finish. 8 benches completed. Here we have douglas fir waney edge tops grown over in Blairgowrie only 30 miles away. The legs being Scottish larch from a timber mill only 20 miles away. All benches looking impressive once they were sanded smooth and osmo oiled. All leg parts are removable for easy transport, which added a fair amount of labour to the job, but ideal for .experiences outdoor catering in the heart of the cairngorms. Special thanks to for milling up these beautiful slabs last minute. Had to work through the night to get these complete, with an hour to spare before 16 guests were due to sit down and enjoy their incredible food Mikael serves up! A game changer having my own workshop. Im now able to get creative with my work rather than the usual carpenter experience of fitting something someone else has made 🫡

Decking completed yesterday. Managing to complete those outdoor jobs as we head into spring. The deck was stripped right back with all new posts concreted in and new structural 6x2’s, to finish off it was all new top boards and re using the best of the old timber for the faces. Just a belt sand on the re used timber and she’ll be ready to be enjoyed again.

Making standard wardrobes look built in, with a custom made unit and doors to fit the pitch of the ceiling. Many times ive worked on jobs and the customer wants completely new, but basically replacing with the same as they already have. Here i used the good parts of the 35 year old wardrobes that were here before to make the custom unit on the end, saving money and saving materials going to landfill.

Ive recently had a week between jobs, so some home projects are coming along nicely.
Here we have a 2.4m wide, 2 compartment composting bin. Ive used untreated larch that will last many years and only stainless steel fixings as i like to think this will limit our exposure to any leeching of harmful chemicals into our compost and ultimately into the food we grow here.

Ive opted to char the ends of the posts that will sit forever in wet ground, acting as a natural way to treat timber and seal it. Our garden prep is well under way here 🥕
