The cusp of spring is a time for change...

With the change of Spring comes a change of business and BH Studio is closing its doors. With one of our partners moving across the country we've decided to close.

Richard and I have had some great experiences though the creation of BH Studio. We've met some wonderful people, clients, contractor's and plantspeople. Some fantastic spaces have been created and the foundations of BH Studio will be carried forward and grow...

From the end of BH Studio, 3 new businesses are planted:

Matt is reverting back to and will continue developing the designs and gardens we have worked on, alongside many new projects.

Richard starts a new business down in Suffolk as and will be working for private clients on gardening and planting design.

Cat who had gardened with us over the last year has launched her own gardening business .hill.gardens and continues working in some of our regular gardens.

So, give us a follow and keep up with what the BH Studio team continue to design, build and plant into the future! I'm sure you'll see us collaborating again together at some point too!

Finally a huge thanks to those that have supported the studio in many ways, we couldn't have done it without you!

The number of creatures in our Wentworth Woodhouse Feature Garden is spectacular, from a variety of bumblebees to solitary bees, wasps, hoverflies and several species of butterflies.

'Work With Your Garden' really demonstrates how gardens can and should have inherent habitat for all manner of creatures.

Work with your space and it will reward you!

Fantastic to have our garden featured on this evening.

It was wonderful to hear chat so enthusiastically about the garden and concept behind the space, something we really believe in as a practice.

We are also so pleased to see the beautiful
Podophyllum pleianthum from featured among others. We have Cliff Bank to thank for the stunning plants we've got to work with for the garden.

Not forgetting the hard landscaping, the detail of our grids was also featured, expertly crafted by

If you missed the programme, come see the garden in person at the flower show until Sunday!

A fantastic first day on the garden! Wentworth Woodhouse Flower Show.

We've loved talking plants, conditions, design and gardens all day! It has been wonderful to see everyone discussing the planting and garden, and we've had some fantastic feedback!

Big thanks to our volunteers from the RHS and .johnson_stonework

Phew! What a day.

Warm, plants, soil, watering, volunteers, busy, considering, watering, planting, cooling, calm, happy.

All in a day at .

A long and hot day, but at the end, everything is coming together, and we are in our happy place at Biggins Hill Studio. Among the plants, flowers, textures and already an unbelievable amount of insect life.

We're so looking forward to welcoming you on to this feature garden. And that's before we start on all those little details that you'll find in this garden.

On to tomorrow's build!

Problem = Opportunity

Design is a lot of problem solving. Though the key to design is solving that problem in a deliberate and ultimately aesthetically pleasing way.

For our feature garden we encountered a problem. Joining these steel grids together! A simple enough problem, but each avenue to solve this came with its own issues.

By turning this problem into an opportunity, we have created a subtle detail in this garden which links again to the local industrial history. We're keeping that detail under wraps until the show, so if you're coming along, we'll tell you all about it!

Big milestone complete at the end of day 5

The dry stone wall is finished! For our feature garden.

Showcasing local crafts and materials, built by the people of South Yorkshire for centuries.

Hard work, perseverance and only the odd bad word heard! (Honest!). Again huge thanks to .johnson_stonework for organising this with us and to Alan, Tom, Gary, John & Luke from for the efforts, skills and craftsmanship.

For anyone coming to the show , you'll be able to get up close to this, and hear from us and volunteers about the intricacies of why this wall is proudly South Yorkshire.

Onto planting tomorrow!

Walling work at Wentworth

Creating a curved dry stone wall is no easy feat. It takes skill and craftsmanship. The wall is set out using pins and woods, which give the rough curve, but the rest is all done by eye.

Choice of stone is key, using natural curves in each stone to create the detail in the wall that counts. Experience matters here and the have plenty of that!

Thanks to Rob, Alan, Luke, Tom, Gary, Rob & John for the wall, and all round South Yorkshire banter!

Day 4 of our feature garden is all about the walling.

The absolute legend .johnson_stonework pushing through the weekend and bringing the dry stone wall up and up one stone at a time.

Some help from us after a quick refresher on our walling and we're making good progress.

We should be topping out by tomorrow, which will be a bigger milestone (see what I did there!)

Out to again this morning. Out of the front door and this little combo caught my eye.

Erigeron karvinskianus & Echeveria secunda.

Full sun, never ever watered, the Erigeron growing out of a tiny crack in my driveway. The Echeveria a gift from a lovely client.

Gorgeous pop of colour!
