I’m about halfway through my holiday now, and Wild Water Sands is deliberately taking a back seat for a few days.

I’ve still been thinking of WWS though and being able to swim every day and be near the ocean or the pool in such a wonderful setting is very inspiring.

That was really part of the reason I started Wild Water Sands and maybe even beyond swimming alone. I love being in the water, but I also love everything around it: coastal villages, changing skies, reflections, weathered buildings and those quieter views you stumble across when you’re not looking for them.

I think there may be a few new ideas coming home with me!

There’s another side of the coast that I want to explore more with Wild Water Sands.

The places around the water.

Little harbours, coastal cottages, winding streets, boats pulled up along the shore and those villages where you can wander for an afternoon without really going anywhere in particular.

I’ve started to look into this more something that would be a great match to my
Lakes and Lochs, it feels like a very natural extension of the collection.

The water is still there.

We’re just stepping onto the shore occasionally too.

Yesterday was very much a beach day here in Palma.

Lots of swimming in the clearest water, with little fish completely visible beneath me and the sun catching the surface so it sparkled like diamonds.

Forget diamonds in a jewellery box — this girl’s best friend is definitely the kind you can swim in. 💎🌊

I think this is the part of being by the water that I’m always trying to bring into Wild Water Sands. Not necessarily the big swims or the wild adventures, but those smaller moments the light on the water, noticing what’s beneath you, floating for a while and having nowhere else you need to be.

Although I may have enjoyed the sunshine a little too much yesterday… I’m definitely looking slightly more sun-kissed today than planned!

Good Morning,

When I recently asked what you’d like to see from Wild Water Sands, one suggestion was very simple, a pen and pad.

And I’ve kept thinking about it.

I already have notebooks within the collection, but it’s made me think more about useful everyday stationery too.

Something you can actually keep on your desk, write your lists in, make notes in or take with you.

I’m not rushing anything because I’d rather get the products right, but there are definitely a few ideas going into the notebook.

One of the things I enjoy most about being away is having time to actually notice where I am.

At home there is always something waiting wether that’s orders for Ribbonaire Sands orders, designing, photographs, listings, admin and even swimming has to fit around everything else.

A few days away gives me the chance to wander, sit by the water and take photographs simply because I like what I see.

I’ll probably come home with far too many pictures of the sea, sand, skies and little coastal corners, but they’re often the photographs I return to when I’m looking for ideas for Wild Water Sands.

Good morning,

Someone recently said to me that they love anything that gives them the feeling of water and the power of it.

That comment stayed with me.

Because I think that’s what I’ve been trying to capture with Wild Water Sands without quite having the words for it.

Water can be calm one day and powerful the next. The coast can feel completely different depending on the weather, the season or even the time of day.

I don’t want every piece I create to look the same.

I want them to capture different sides of being beside the water.

And I think that’s going to influence quite a lot of what I create next.

Holiday mode is officially beginning!

I’m heading away for my holiday and looking forward to a proper change of scenery, some slower mornings and, hopefully, plenty of time near the water.

Wild Water Sands will be a little quieter while I’m away, although I have scheduled posts and I’m sure a few beach photographs will find their way onto here!

Everything at home is in safe hands too as my son is home keeping an eye on things and, more importantly, looking after Razzle 🐈‍⬛!

I’m looking forward to seeing what catches my eye while I’m away. The colours, reflections and small details around the coast often end up finding their way into my work later without me even realising it at the time.

Good morning,

A slightly less glamorous part of running a creative business today…

I’m working my way through the Wild Water Sands and Ribbonaire Sands Etsy shops and updating some of my product photographs.

As the collection has grown, I’ve realised the imagery needs to grow with it.

I want you to be able to see not only the artwork itself, but how it might actually look in a home—the scale, the colours and how different pieces can work together.

So today there are prints, frames, linen and props everywhere while I experiment.
