Looking for something to do today? Fathers get free admittance to the fabulous Thorp Perrow Arboretum Wildlife Park near Bedale. The garden centre is looking wonderful. Admission to the Arboretum is not required to visit Thorp Perrow Garden Centre or to use the Tea Room.

A heartwarming recent ITV News feature about Mires Beck Nursery. As well as the many National Trust properties mentioned in the video, Mires Beck also supplies Thorp Perrow Garden Centre with a range of beautiful perennial plants.

Mires Beck Nursery is also now officially Plant Healthy certified, indicating that they are helping to raise awareness of the importance of plant health, supporting the UK economy, and contributing to the protection of the British landscape and its biodiversity.

We think every Garden needs Alpines! We use the term fairly loosely to group together our robust and ever-popular small perennial superstars. Compact plants, usually preferring stony, well-drained soil
and resistant to wind, sun and extreme temperatures, they can be used to create miniature landscapes in raised beds or to cascade from the tops of walls.

We have a wide selection, including several varieties of fragrant Dianthus (or 'Pinks').

Trevor and Ruth had a day off together today (a rare thing!) and we visited the Himalayan Gardens near Masham. The rhododendrons and azaleas are stunningly showcased there.
We have some beauties at Thorp Perrow Garden Centre too. Don't forget your soil needs to be acidic or you can plant a compact variety in ericaceous compost in a good-sized pot.
