Mothering Sunday 💐

We don't need a day to celebrate the people that we love in our lives but today is a day of refection.

Mothering Sunday means something different to everyone and we spare a thought and light candles today for families who have sadly lost children and parents and will forever carry them in their hearts.

We think of those who are trying for a family and to those set to welcome their newborns.

We think of those who are parenting alone and to those who have taken on the role.

We think of family and friends who actively encourage, support and love us as we navigate life.

The team at Fernoak would like to wish everyone a happy Mother's day in whichever capacity you spend the day.

We want to say the biggest thank you to everyone who has played even the smallest of parts in our lives and who continue to support and shape us in to the people that we are. Thank you.

Welcome back Wednesday

We are delighted to share with you that we have been awarded the status of ARB Approved Contractors for another year.

We are incredibly proud to be a part of the Arboricultural Association. This award demonstrates the continued dedication that we have to the Arb industry and reflects the training, audits and assessments that are completed regularly.

It is the team's combined skill, safety and knowledge that is reflected both on and off the ropes that enable this achievement.

This year, the team have been phenomenal. I can't thank them enough for their continued hard work and commitment to the industry and to Fernoak!

Welcome Spring 🌻

Good evening everyone. Apologies for our limited posts of late. We have been busy concentrating on the expansion of the business, completing annual audits and re branding Fernoak Tree Surgeons Ltd.

As Spring has finally sprung, we thought there is no better time for us to also step back in to your news feeds.

We have a lot to share with you over the coming weeks but for now, we wanted to share some information on the importance of trees and their role in biodiversity.

It is only now that trees start to "wake up". With longer days and lighter evenings, trees start to benefit from longer sun exposure, allowing more growth. This will be further aided by the clock change next weekend 🕑

Buds are starting to bloom thanks to the sap rising through the trunk, taking water, sugars and minerals to its branches.

Trees play an enormous role in biodiversity, providing shelter, food and habitats to an array of species. The flowers provide pollen and nectar for bees and pollinating insects.

As Arborists, we carry out essential tree works to benefit the health and longevity of the tree. Incorrect techniques are not only detrimental to the overall health of the tree but can be hazardous to its surroundings.

We are aware of our role and the importance in sustainability and biodiversity and have recently planted 15 Silver Birch and Maple Trees at our Head Office.

This is a topic that we are passionate about and will be exploring and sharing more with you

A very big thank you to Dale and Dan of Richard Hall Ltd for an incredible evening, raising money for Sebastian's Action Trust. An incredible turn out of participants and spectators who came out despite the miserable weather! Very proud to be a part of this cause.

Emergency Callout 🚨🌳🚧⛔️

To start this sunshining week, we pre arranged a road closure. This was an emergency procedure on behalf of a Local Council due to a high sided vehicle colliding with the tree.

With the machinery to carry out the reactive calls, a proactive Council and Highways Agency to support in the process, days like these are extremely rewarding and enjoyable

Today, the Fernoak team zip lined a twin stemmed Ash tree from a Goat pen due to the goats nibbling at the base (ring barking).

We then attended an emergency call-out on behalf of a Local Authority on the Nine Mile Ride for a fallen Ivy cladded tree.

All members of the team have worked incredibly hard and we are thrilled with the results

Fernoak Tree Surgeons Ltd enjoyed a day in the windy conditions, reducing an Ash tree under a Tree Preservation Order at UTC Reading.

The Council granted works on a lower canopy reduction of 2m to alleviate the weight on over extended limbs. We removed the dead wood to eliminate any risk to the school and car park.

Health & Safety 🦺🌳⛑️

At Fernoak Tree Surgeons Ltd, health & safety is our priority. Not only are we an Arb Approved Contractor but all of our machinery and equipment undergo annual maintenance inspections by specialist Contractors.

From tree climbing access ropes, harness and carabiners to hand tools and MEWPS, everything is inspected for full compliance.

This morning, our 25m tracked MEWP was inspected and the LOLER successfully completed

The Fernoak Tree Surgeons Ltd have been incredibly busy over the last few weeks and have enjoyed every bit of sunshine ☀️

Behind the scenes, Rowan Newbury has successfully completed his chainsaw Use from Rope & Harness and we could not be prouder.

Henry Bunton has been a great role model for Rowan and they work brilliantly as a team. Well done boys!

Today, the Fernoak Tree Surgeons Ltd team ended the week on another high. We could have easily believed we were in sunny Oz, removing this leaning Eucalyptus tree!! What an incredible day!
With the tree being in a confined space, the team lowered all branches and timber safely to the ground.
Well done everyone!
