Porch details & costs

I've been threatening this for a while and I finally had time this morning to faff about on canva so here we are!

What was originally a week long project for around £250 ended up taking 3 months and just under £600 because I got ideas in my head as we went along 🙈

But by doing 85% of the work myself (yep all me! Steve put in a guest appearance to help me put the doors on the shoe cabinet, going to Wickes for paving blocks when I had a screaming meltdown about said cabinet being 1cm too wide for the window alcove 😣 and drilling 4 holes for the shelves because I'm left handed and couldn't get the angle) the final cost was still lower than if I'd thrown in the towel and hired someone to do it all for me.

To put it into context, this is slightly less than what we spent 2 years ago on the flooring and tools for our entire living room and hallway (which we also did ourselves 😉). Sounds like a lot for such a small space, but it is so much more welcoming and spacious than the mouldy cluttered mess it was before 🎉

Would you take on a project like this yourself?

With 9 weeks to go, the deposit, bathroom fittings and tiles are all paid and already the budget is spiralling 🤯

So far we've already added on underfloor heating and are now having discussions about replacing all the doors upstairs (including knocking out a very wonky doorframe) because I want a specific type of door for the new bathroom 🙃

Is anyone else like this? 🤣🤣🤣
