Last month we submitted proposals to develop vacant land on the edge of Bishopbriggs Cross.

This privately owned land was offered to EDC as part of the town makeover and was advised that it was not required and therefore decided to appoint S2 and develop.

A tricky narrow site, which had never been developed due to its constraints of a water culvert below, railway line to the rear and with a listed building as its neighbour…..A challenge we welcome.

We believe that by adding more retail space and residential accommodation will be of great benefit to the local area…

A different type of extension…..

A few months back we submitted proposals to extend ‘Same Day Tyres’ a business, located to the edge of Glasgow City Centre.

Same Day Tyres has been operating their tyre garage for over 25 years and the new extension will provide the business with improved facilities that will see them succeed over the next 25 years…

Well site preparation works have taken place over the past few weeks to clear and relay the access road, scrape back the site and plant boundary landscaping….

Phase 1 - Obtain Planning Consent ✅
Phase 2 - Form access road and clear site ✅
Phase 3 - Start Construction Works…….

Earlier this week we received planning consent for our clients to partly demolish, extend and significantly alter their new house (basically rebuild)

S2 were tasked of viewing the property, explore its potential and based on our proposals and suggestions, our clients bought the house and we thereafter progressed for a planning submission. With consent now in place we are hopeful that construction works will start late summer..

S2 submitted an application to transform this spectacular house by;

- Extending the outbuilding and adding an additional level of accommodation within the attic space
- Conversion of detached outbuilding in to living accommodation
- Connect existing house to outbuilding with an infill extension
- Side garage extension
- Re-configure internal layout
- Form external courtyard social space

Another exciting project that we are hopeful (all going well) that all consents will be in place are for work to commence late 2024

Retreat to the Campsies

Planning consent was granted earlier this week for this bespoke, architecturally designed & sustainable retreat set within the Campsie Fells overlooking Lennoxtown.

This retreat will seek to attract tourists to the Campsie Fells and showcase all that East Dunbartonshire has to offer as well as being the ideal location for cyclists, walkers, golfers and for people looking for serenity and just a bit of time out.

BMC Joinery and Constructionwill be commencing the works on site early summer and aim to complete for guests to enjoy by the end of 2024.

At the end of 2023 we completed proposals for a client exploring options to extend and alter their beautiful detached sandstone villa in East Renfrewshire with the visuals being the preferred option.

The existing house had been in the family for years and the client wanted to extend and adapt the house by adding a two storey side, as well as a single storey side and rear extension which would add more living space, bedrooms, as well as a gym and spa suite…

we look forward to seeing how this project develops going forward….

It’s was nice to stop past and catch up with our clients in seeing their new extension in Bishopbriggs.

The client loved their house, it’s location but needed an extra space for a home office, utility space downstairs WC and open plan kitchen/ living area.

They noted that they wanted their extension to be ‘different’ and were open to innovative ideas. After exploring several ideas, we proceeded with proposals for with a cantilevered ‘floating’ roof with high level clerestory windows and large doors with a contrast of a light facing brick outer frame with dark cladding inset.

Lovely work, conviction (and posing) by Gallagher Builders by bringing our drawings to reality.

A few weeks back we submitted a planning application to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs for a two storey side extension in Aberfoyle. The client wanted their extension to compliment their existing stone cottage whilst having contemporary features…

Projects like this have saw S2 take on projects all over central Scotland with live applications in 9 local authorities, with jobs in Aberfoyle, Linlithgow, Helensburgh to Galston and everywhere in between

A lot of these projects have got in touch with us through the powers of social media. Word of mouth has saw us start off local and social media has taken us further a field.

Last year saw many clients come to S2 who love their house but just wanted that little bit of extra space… the images show a variety completed projects in 2023 of rear, side, back, brick, render, bi-folds, sliders etc. each project is to each individual clients and requirements….

It is important to highlight these traditional extensions because by adding that extra bit of space can make such a difference in how your home can change your life (tad dramatic) but it’s true…..

How many people in their house think, if I could get a bigger kitchen, or an extra seating area, downstairs WC etc, a little extra room can make all the difference….
