Here are all the garden jobs I will be doing in June 👇
I can’t believe we’re here, but June is one of my favourite months in my garden as it’s always so luscious and green (although the early heatwave nearly ruined that) but it’s the month where everything really springs into life and colour fills the beds. And although most things are planted, there are still plenty of jobs I’ll be doing (as well as the ones I didn’t get round to doing in May)
1️⃣ Deadhead my alliums. Now you can totally leave the seed heads as interest in the borders, but I like to pop them in a vase to make a dried display 💜
2️⃣ more deadheading – this time, my roses🌹🌹🌹. All of my roses are repeat flowering, so I will be deadheading these through June to encourage more blooms. I also love to use the petals to dry to make confetti (if anyone’s getting married LMK)
3️⃣ Plant out my zinnia – I meant to do this in May but ive waited as they were being quite slow, but now they’re well on their way and have begun developing their side shoots so really need to be planted out. I’ll be planting these in my pots.
4️⃣ Keep picking sweetpeas through the season as the more you pick the more you get, so I will be making the most of that and enjoying mini posies for the house every week
5️⃣ by the end of the month my cherries are usually ripe enough to pick so I need to work out what to do with them, they’re a sour cherry to will need to be cooked.
6️⃣ The clematis montana has finished flowering so now I can chop it right back as its got out of control🌸🌸🌸
7️⃣ I will continue to feed my pots, my tomatoes & my roses every 2-3 weeks. I use (kindly gifted) on my pots & toms then on all my roses
8️⃣ Finally, I will be sowing my biennials this month – im aiming for foxgloves, honesty, sweet William and sweet rocket!
As always I’ll try and film everything as I do it so you can see how I do it. But what garden jobs have I missed? I’m sure there’s plenty.
