This fabulous roof is very unusual,well, specificllay for North Wales standards. The slates are incredibly wide- 46" was the widest one while only 18" high.

There are also no battens!! This is because the slates are so wide they span the 12" rafters and are nailed with two nails into each rafter. As some of the slates are so wide, they are nailed into three rafters.

When stripping slates to patch, the underside is caked in the chinese clay which was produced locally and shipped out in the bay.

So we've applied the system to the roof, saved the client the cost of re-slating (the building and harour is grade II listed), issued our guarantee and saved another fabulous old roof.

A fine example of the effectiveness of our patented conservation system. 3 houses in a row, the nearest roof has been stormflexed, therefore all slates are solidly in place. With no slipping slates like the other 2 roofs. Not only is our system super effective, It also comes with a 15 year guarantee!! Thanks to being offered to put Kaz on a NVQ level 3 course in traditional slate roofing, we were able to complete the full re-slate of this fabulous roof. We are very proud of the level of workmanship thats gone into this project and are very exited about what this means for the development of our company- to offer top of the range slate roofing.

This was one of the more complicate EPDM flat roofs we've had to do, and it's the first time we've used decking pads.

Here's our solution to a common problem. This standard practice of cementing the verge always results in cracking, rot, and verge blow outs. There's the added problem that the undercloaking (the bit at the bottom of the cement) is often asbestos, so it's best to leave this in its place.

We prefer to mold code 3 or 4 lead to cover the lead and asbestos (using full disposable PPE and water dampening methods). I think this results in an attractive finish, yet quick and competitive in price.

Of course, this wouldnt be a probem in the first place if verges were instaled to our slate clad standards!

A small strip and reslate job turned into a larger project as there was major timber rot in the rear box gutter, chimney needed re-pointing and beutiful Lumen skylights installed

We've decided after this job that we're going to use 3x1 batten or double up the batten from now on to ensure good nail holes- will explain in some pictures in another folder!
