Locking up last night we got a bit of an unexpected visitor… 🎅

Santa was out on a pre-Christmas test flight when he noticed an electrical fault on his sleigh — turns out a control relay had given up at the worst possible time.

He made a quick emergency stop at Chris Stubbs & Son Electrical to see if we could help. Luckily, we had the right component on the shelf, got it fitted, tested, and had him safely back in the air in no time.

No invoice raised — payment accepted in Christmas cheer only.

Wishing all our customers, old and new, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄✨

🚨 Emergency Call-Out… or so I thought! 😂

Got a call on the emergency line today — it diverted straight to my mobile. On the other end was a very distressed customer saying their alarms… smoke alarm… intruder alarm… something… was going off and they couldn’t stop it.

I could hear this loud, high-pitched whining down the phone — didn’t sound like any intruder alarm I’ve ever heard, but it was definitely urgent. So I jumped in the van and shot straight over.

We’re walking around the house together and this noise is STILL going… loud, whiny, repetitive — but impossible to pinpoint. Something just didn’t add up. 🤨

I asked him, “You sure you haven’t got anything on you that could be making that noise? Phone? Pager? Anything?
“No, definitely not,” he says.

Then I go, “What about a watch or something?”
He lifts his sleeve… and there it is.

⏱️ His smartwatch was stuck on SOS distress mode the whole time.
The ‘intruder alarm’ was literally strapped to his wrist.

A quick reset and silence was restored. 😂😂

You ever walk into a job and just think… “Hang on a minute”? 😂

New customer, new house, looks all fine — until I spot the problem.
There’s no meter.
Half the house has been powered for free for years! (2 houses knocked into 1)

In some people’s opinion (probably the wrong one!), the new owners could’ve just kept quiet — but fair play to them, they’ve reported it. They didn’t want to get caught out. ⚡

Not sure whether to be shocked or impressed with how long the last lot got away with it!

We’ve just finished one of our largest electric underfloor heating installs to date. (Large open plan kitchen-diner)

The client wanted this as their secondary source of heating, just like in their London property. With limited floor height, a wet system wasn’t an option — so we went with a fully electric setup.

We used 6mm insulation boards on a concrete subfloor to help with efficiency, paired with a Heatmiser wireless thermostat for full remote control wherever they are in the world 🌍

We also provided detailed running cost estimates for winter, and the client was more than happy to proceed.

This one was completed in partnership with of Bridport 👷‍♂️

🚨 Not your everyday job 🚨

We were recently asked to carry out an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) on an Incident Support Trailer, which runs on both 230V and 12V systems.

A bit different from the usual work, but we were more than happy to help out. Thankfully, everything inside was in great shape and up to standard — and the trailer is now back out on the road, providing vital support at Glastonbury Festival this weekend. 🎪⚡

From homes and shops to trailers and temporary setups, we carry out domestic, commercial, and industrial electrical work across the board.

📲 Need an EICR or installation done properly? Give us a shout.

Managed to step away from the tools for a day with a couple of the team to visit the CEF Live Show in Birmingham.
It was a great chance to explore some of the latest technologies and innovations coming into the electrical industry.

We even bumped into George Clarke from Amazing Spaces – a nice surprise and great to see him supporting the trade.

Light Work Made Easy 💪⚡

We’ve just put our new trenching machine to the test on a local school project — and it smashed it! 🚜

This job needed a long trench to get power and data down to a new automatic gate setup, with the gate located around 60 meters away. The new machine made light work of it — fast, clean, and efficient.

Looking forward to putting this beast to work on more jobs soon!

If you require any electrical work which may involve trenching please drop us a message
