I think most of you know by now that we are having to move out of the garage and that this is our last week running the community shop on Nutgrove Av. We are gutted to have to leave Victoria Park and all of you lovely customers, but sadly the council are no longer allowing us to use the garage to trade from. We have suggested to the council that we instead have a mobile unit in the park to sell our veg, but they won’t allow this either. I’ve been inundated with emails and messages of support asking if there is anything you can do to stop the closure. Thank you so much for all for your kind messages and I’m sorry I’m not able to reply to everyone individually - It means so much to us that we have the support of the community. It’s come at a time when I was already needing to lighten my workload, so I’m afraid I don’t have the time/ energy to start a fight with the council, especially when it seems like a losing battle and we would have to spend money that we don’t have. So we are going to quit while we're winning, and on our own terms.
I'll continue growing veggies and flowers at our beautiful walled garden in Redhill and our produce will be going to the Barley Wood Walled Gardens box scheme. Barley Wood would be delighted to start delivering their boxes to anyone in the BS3 and BS4 area so please email me on [email protected] if you are interested in a Barley Wood box delivery and I can give you Mark’s number.
Thank you for all your support over the last few years. We all feel very privileged to have had such a lovely bunch of customers, many of whom have become dear friends. Please come down this week and support us - we’ve got some lovely local produce in including gorgeous Wye Valley gooseberries and blueberries as well as Cheddar strawberries. And if you’re around this Friday 14th pop in for some fizz!
