Primula scotica: The rarest plant in the UK. Being a plant geek I could not come to Orkney without seeing It. It is small and the 20p gives you an idea of the scale. I found them growing on these spectacular exposed sea cliffs in Orkney. They can also be found in carefully grazed grasslands in Caithness and Sutherland.

Reduction of a Eucalyptus Gunnii today with my Stihl HTA 135 pole pruner. Its the upper limit of what I can reach safely from the ground. Eucalyptus Gunnii are endemic to Tasmania so suit our cooler climate and grow well here.

Now is the ideal time to cut back deciduous shrubs. A few before and after photos of a shrub border I have renovated recently. I think that Lonicera nitida on the left is just crying out to be cloud pruned in a Niwaki (ish) style.
