The latest 3 day DIY workshop ended today with all 5 women making beautiful hand crafted creations from locally milled slab Douglas Fir in 6 hours! Well done all!!

HARD LANDSCAPING 5 DAY RETREAT-5 PLACES AVAILABLE BELOW

The first landscaping workshop was a great success ending last week. The five women thoroughly enjoyed learning how to build stone walls, clearing old walls, leveling ground, cutting up and installing a circular decked area, on a chunky douglas fir frame, installing a large raised bed and stone steps.

They also made a set of timber steps to access a higher level on the next workshop and ground is cleared to install a large pond.

They loved the lush food, trip on the Dolphin boat, Cliff Hotel Spa session and a new 1 hour reflexology session with our now highly recommended therapist Jade Elizabeth therapies

Plenty of talk of returning on other workshops!

Day 2 of the 5 day hard landscaping workshop! Another impressive day!

The 5 women completed the framing of the deck area with some great jointing of the 3x3 timbers. Its really solid!

They then moved on to learning the basics of stone walking and took to it like they'd done it all their lives. Quite extraordinary to witness them building up the walls on two sides of the deck frame.

It's beginning to take shape and is beautiful!

Really well done 👏

They're off now on a well-earned dolphin 🐬 boat trip!

Amazing day 1 of the Hard landscaping workshop. 5 keen and enthusiastic women (3 have been before) really got stuck into clearing and exposing an old ivy and bramble covered dry stone wall - Yvettes idea and they all really got stuck in! It's really beautiful and a great backdrop to the new deck area.

They then dropped the level of the bank to create a levelish pad for a small 4.5 sq M deck frame, made from local 3 x 3 Douglas Fir timbers. The posts were charred before installing in the ground to protect them.

Tomorrow the frame will be completed and decked out with 6 x 1 planks. Watch this space it will have an organic, irregular curved shape.

Lauren, Rachel, Beth, Smithy and Yvette will then begin to install a new stone wall at the rear and build up the existing one at the front of the deck to feature it.

Exciting!!!

POST FROM THE 2ND 3 DAY DIY BEGINNERS WORKSHOP in APRIL

Another amazingly creative three days of DIY with Rhonda, Helen, Maria, Rachel and Clare.

They are full of passion and learnt how to use a wide range of DIY tools! They consolidated that learning by making small AND large personalised creations to take away

I remain in awe of how relative beginners pick up such a variety of tools and start using them competently!

Lots of fun, lush foods, Spa session, local hotel visits create a great, rich learning experience .

Fudge our cat and Kenai the notorious Welsh Collie as ever added much nurturing to the occasion.

Well done you five! Now practice at home!

DIY For Women is very busy!!

Last weekends workshop was our original fast moving weekender developing basic DIY skills and plumbing, through practical, hands on learning.

Before that the 2nd building an ensuite bathroom from stud walls to installing feed pipes, bath, sink and toilet.

There is always lush food, log fires and great banter! Women engaged quickly in the workshops, with women on latter already booked to return!

The only thing we need is more weekends!!

Another busy 3 day DIY workshop ended yesterday. 4 passionate women attended, committed to developing their skills and independence further through the fast-moving, hands on DIY BASIC SKILLS on Saturday and Home Plumbing on the Sunday!

The third day consolidates learning through making something they'd designed. What a variety! Our shoe collector made a boot rack, another a gorgeous coffee table, a book case and an elegant music stand!

All made from rough sawn local Douglas Fir in stages using tools they'd learnt!!

In-between lots of lush food, sea swims, banter, good sleep and a visit to Cardigans penultimate brunch venue, Cwrst on International Women's Day.

Well done Lauren, Gemma, Michelle and Julie!!

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!

I feel privledged to witness first hand the pursuit of equality and independence by women who attended these workshops. Its a massive, growing trend yay!!!

The four women on the three day workshop can enjoy a great Crwst brunch in Cardigan! It took over my favourite ironmongery premises a few years, so I refused to go. I felt we had enough cafes in Cardigan (there are), but my eldest son loved it, so relented on his birthday last year and had lunch there. Its fabulous!

The first 5 day Garden Hard Landscaping Workshop is attracting lots of interest and has sold out. A new date has been added starting on Sunday 31st to Friday 5th June. The course fee is £520 (the third one will go up to £560). It is fully residential and based just above Poppit Sands, 3 miles from Cardigan.

This fast moving, as ever hands on course, will introduce skills from basic garden design and layout, to building sheds, to log stores, to stone walling, to raised beds!

Come along and be inspired to envision and make full use of your outdoor space. Many women attending our workshops get really excited when they see the beautiful cabin, decked area, tools shed and walls that women, who were all beginners have built.
