This combination boiler installation was a result of a faulty heating system.

During a call out, we found that the system central heating pump had failed, on closer inspection, the heating system had been neglected for years and was full of sludge, the original boiler had been reset over several visits by previous engineers.

After a sit down discussion with our customer to show him the issues, a new boiler with wireless controls, weather compensation and a full central heating system power flush was opted for.

This pump has clearly been an issue for some time, look at the centre bleed screw, it's been opened more times than necessary.

The pump has been replaced and the heating system has now been flushed to ensure this doesn't happen again!

Is the UK way behind?

Excerpt from the Dutch Government announcement regarding the future energy bill earlier today

The Netherlands will now become the next country in the EU to mandate heat pumps. The “trigger point” for the mandate will be the replacement of a house’s heating installation, like a boiler.
Much like plans in neighbouring Germany to mandate at least hybrid heat pumps as early as 2024, the Dutch government is betting on the efficacy of so-called hybrid heat pumps, which run on electricity for most of the year.
Using a hybrid heat pump “leads to an average 60% saving on natural gas consumption,” the government said in a press release. '
