Renovation of London house located in a converted school.
In the double-height central area, a mezzanine floor serves both as study and cinema room, while on the lower level a large open space serves as lounge, kitchen and dining room.
An handle-free cabinet has been built to offer a continuous storage in between the 2 floor level, looking like it has been inserted between the 2 levels thanks to a plinth which separate both the bottom and the top from the ceiling. The cabinet houses, in order, entry cupboard, wardrobe, laundry space and kitchen pantry.
The intense colors of the wooden finishes of the doors, table and floor contribute to creating a silent and intimate space. The majestic windows sit in the background against warm-toned walls which helps creating a subtle and calm atmosphere. The floor was created with local reclaimed wood, and cut with shapes and sizes that were reminiscent of the coverings of the original building.
