🎃 Architectural Horrors: When Design Sends a Shiver Down Your Spine 👻

This Halloween, we’re not hunting ghosts, we’re confronting the real horrors that lurk in the built environment.
From clashing facades to windowless towers, some buildings give us chills for all the wrong reasons.
These design “nightmares” remind us how important empathy, context, and balance are in architecture. Because often, the real horror story isn’t supernatural - it’s when form, function, and feeling fall apart.

We’re sharing some infamous examples of design gone wrong and what they can teach us about getting it right.

We’re looking for a Junior / Trainee CAD Technician to join our Cheltenham team! 🏛️
It’s a part-time role to start, with flexibility as our workload grows, perfect for someone looking to kickstart their career in architecture or surveying.

👷‍♀️ What you’ll be doing:
Helping with site and building surveys (traditional tools & LiDAR)
- Creating and updating CAD drawings (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)
- Supporting live projects across Cheltenham, the Cotswolds, and beyond
- Visiting sites (yes, sometimes with a hard hat!)

💡 What we’re looking for:
- Some CAD experience (or willingness to learn - we’ll train you!)
- Great attention to detail and a collaborative attitude
- Interest in architecture, interiors, surveying, or design
- Based near Cheltenham (driving licence a bonus!)

👀 Spot the scaffolding on our Cheltenham office?

This time, we get to be on the other side of the table - because even architects and surveyors find themselves as the clients every now and then.! 🛠️

It’s a great reminder of how tricky it can feel when work impacts your property or business. That’s why we always plan projects with care, keeping in mind both the design and the disruption.

⭐ Good news: temporary scaffolding means long-term improvements.

🌞 Brilliant day at the Scuttlebrook Wake in Chipping Campden last Saturday!

From May Queens and Morris dancers to a fantastic evening of music at Scuttlefest with the amazing Barney Porter Music , The Swaps and Average Wyatt Band , it was a true celebration of everything we love about the Cotswolds.

The real highlight? Seeing the whole town dancing together at the end. Such a joyful moment and a reminder of how special our local community is.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped make it all happen – we’re proud to be part of it.

🎉 We’re proud to be sponsoring the Scuttlebrook Wake this Saturday in our lovely hometown of Chipping Campden!

It’s a proper Cotswold affair - complete with Morris dancing, maypole twirling, and plenty of community fun. As locals ourselves, it means a lot to support traditions like this.

Our architect Zoe Marinescu made the most of the sunny weather by taking her work outside to The Artisan Baker - Bakery & Coffee Shop , just a stone’s throw from our new office on the Promenade in Cheltenham.

It’s one of the many perks of flexible working—and being based in such a stunning town definitely helps with inspiration!
