I recently visited the Van Gogh Immersive Experience in York, and was interested to learn of his loose and fast style of painting. This piece was inspired by his time in Arles, France. I created it in a couple of hours and tried to be as loose with my style.

Following my half moon painting, I decided to try my hand at a more accurate representation of the full moon on a round canvas. Using acrylic paints, I created areas of texture to represent mountains and impact craters. I smoothed out the flatter seas.

As the astronauts of the Artemis II crew travel around the moon, I thought it was time I shared my first attempt at a moon painting. This representation of a half moon made with acrylic paint on canvas, plays with light and shadow.
