Working on a border design, quite pleased with the way it’s shaping up 😊. This will be a densely planted edge of woodland scheme in a small suburban garden, with a couple of small trees, hydrangeas, hardy fuchsias, Japanese anemones, hellebores, liriope muscari, astrantias, tiarellas and some ferns.
The client brief was lots of mixed bright colours, so the centre section of the border, which gets a lot more sun, will have rudbeckia, aquilegias, salvia microphylla, the odd kniphofia, a vibrant blue caryopteris and a handsome phormium.

There is still time to get on top of autumn jobs in the garden! Autumn lawn maintenance, spring bulb planting, hedge trimming, new trees / shrubs / hedges to plant, leaves to be collected, autumn garden tidy-ups, plants to be divided, greenhouse cleaning - autumn can be a busy time before the winter cold sets in!

Self-seeded poppies pick up the vivid pink of the rose on the arch while blue cornflowers contrast with the pale yellow of the shrub roses and geranium Rozanne romps away among the salvias and allium seed heads in a harmony of blue and purple. Cottage garden in high summer 😍
