My sweetcorn is planted out now 💪🏻 🌽
I’ve used bamboo as a guide to keep my rows straight while planting and I have planted each plant 30cm apart from the next.
Sweetcorn is pollinated by the wind so needs to be planted in a block, rather than rows to ensure good pollination.

You may think you’re too late to plant some things but in the right conditions germination times can be much faster.
I sowed seeds for sweetcorn and a variety of beans on Friday evening. Ideally I should have planted them sooner but I didn’t have space for more seed trays and was away for a couple of days too so didn’t have time to make space.
Typically germination times for beans are 7-10 days and sweetcorn is 7-12 days.
These plants are now growing after only 3 days of being sown.

The bees love it 🐝 and it smells amazing too 🌿
I’ve got so many fantastic herbs from urban herbs, I bought them last year and they’re still going strong.
Their cocktail selection 🍸 and herbal tea ☕️ selection are my favourites ☺️

Do you have Comfrey popping up everywhere like I do? This is part of the borage family and makes a great fertiliser for your plants.
It is rich in potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus so can be used for a large variety of flowering and fruiting plants including tomatoes, peppers and potatoes.
Avoid using comfrey fertiliser on seedlings, root vegetables and leafy salads and herbs.
To make comfrey fertiliser just place the leaves into a tub (you can weigh them down with a brick) and cover with water. Leave for 3-6 weeks (it will be really stinky) then add to your watering can at a ratio of 1 part comfrey 10 parts water. It should resemble weak tea when diluted.
