‼️Please be aware‼️
Over the last few weeks, there has been a small number of attempted car key burglaries in surrounding areas where the offenders have attempted to force their way into properties while the residents were at home to take the keys.
Whilst we are not aware of any reports in Nuneaton and Bedworth, there has been incidents in Burbage (last weekend) and Shustoke yesterday (see the photo).. Both incidents took place in the daytime and the target was high end vehicles. The offenders vehicles in these incidents were a black Mercedes C Class and a black Audi estate.
It’s likely that locations a scouted beforehand, so if you see a person or vehicle acting suspiciously in your area, please call your local police on 101 immediately, or call 999 if you believe a crime is progress.
If you have a performance or high end vehicle, we advise you to deter criminals by deploying visible security devices that would delay there escape, such as quality steering wheel locks (such as Disklok), security gates and/or bollards. Smart security devices (such as video doorbells) can also act as a deterrent.
Update: A bit of good news - two males in a black Audi estate were detained in the West Midlands Police area yesterday following a pursuit. It's believed they were involved in an attempted car key burglary in North Warwickshire on Thursday where they forced their way into a home during the middle of the day, while the residents were at home.
The car they were in was stolen in a similar burglary in Coventry a few days before.
Whilst we cannot say whether it's the same people from the incident in Burbage recently, these were definitely burglaring over a wide area using concerning tactics.
