Another job completed by the two of us in Coventry for a local landlord. Four different walls inside the property have sustained penetrating damp issues. These issues could have occurred due to any different reasons .

Due to the age of these properties and the fact they don’t have any cavities . The walls can’t breathe therefore causing penetrating moisture/ damp .

In this particular instance we decided to batten the walls out with roofing lath , stick insulation inbetween the battens using an adhesive and finally fix plasterboards to the laths and plaster the walls.

Insulating damp walls that have previously had moisture/damp issues helps to protect walls from moisture and can actually extend their lifespan, reducing the need for future repairs and maintenance. Additionally to this, eliminating dampness by using insulation creates an environment where mould cannot thrive, improving indoor air quality and ultimately a safer and more comfortable environment for current and future tenants to live .

A garage conversion completed by the two of us last week in Cawston , Rugby.

Once the plastering is completed on any building project it always feels more of a finished room. A nice way to end a busy week 👌🏻

It’s always nice to see our work painted.

This is a media wall we plastered a few months back and the customer has kindly sent across a picture of it painted and nicely finished off. 👌🏻

We don’t usually get a chance to see our work finished as we move on from one job to another so it’s great to see what the final finish looks like . 🔥

Another bedroom completed by the two of us in Coventry. The customer requested insulated plasterboards and asked us for some advice on them and asked us the benefits of installing them.

We told them that the benefits to using insulated plasterboard’s are that they improve thermal insulation inside the room they’ve been installed in. This means they reduce the amount of energy needed to heat or cool a room, resulting in lower utility bills and a smaller environmental impact. ♻️⚡️

We know how plasterers are portrayed and know it’s a messy trade but we always go above and beyond to protect everything that we can within a customers home and the be as clean as possible. We invested in microfibre water resistant dust sheets to protect peoples carpets , flooring ect. We also use tarpaulins to mix on and hoses to keep the outside of customers properties extra clean and tidy. It’s very basic stuff but it’s essential to us that we show respect for your home by trying to leave it cleaner than when we arrived.

The landlord was in desperate need of help !

We got a call over the weekend from a local landlord that we’ve done work for before. Some tenants had taken some pictures of cracks in the ceiling and around the top of the walls above the picture rail on the lounge area. He had been unaware of the situation and just wanted it sorted ASAP!

To give him the best quality job possible we used render mesh to reinforce the existing plaster after removing what was already loose.

We filled holes where older plaster had came away from the wall with bonding backing coat plaster .

We cut strips of render mesh and stuck them on with unibond .

We then overboarded the ceiling making sure we staggered our joints to give the ceiling added strength and longevity.

Another lounge completed by the two of us in Coventry last week.
A previous company had come out to damp treat the wall. Due to the age of the property the damp issues were probably caused due the house having no cavity and being a solid 9 inch wall causing penetrating moisture and the walls not being able to breathe.

We started off by applying two coats of thistle Dri-coat plaster as an undercoat to all the damp treated areas. We then applied render mesh to all the walls to help reinforce the walls and to give them added strength.

Finally we applied two coats of finish plaster to give the home owner fresh, flat and polished walls that they can now decorate over the next few days.

Thistle Dri-Coat helps shield interior walls from damage caused by rising damp, especially after a damp proof course has been installed

Its water-resistant properties prevent damp from penetrating new plaster . Dri-coat also contains additives that help limit the movement of salts from the background into the plaster, preventing salt related damage to newly plastered walls.

The homeowner came across an unexpected problem in one of their bedrooms this weekend when they removed their high standing wardrobes to discover that they’d been plastered inn .

We patched the ceiling in to try keep
costs to a minimum and we used bonding backing coat plaster and the mesh system on the walls to add strength to the wall and to help keep them flat.

A bedroom ceiling overboarded and Plastered last week by the two of us in Coventry.

With a few cracks beginning to appear and with it being an old lath and plaster ceiling we decided it was best to overboard it rather than just reskim it.

Whenever we apply plasterboards to either walls or ceilings we always stagger the joints. This gives added structural strength meaning it’s less susceptible to cracking in the future.
