June is our anniversary month, so it feels like a good excuse to look back on how Vivus started, introduce the team and share a little of the story behind the studio.

Back in 2018, I (Tanya 👋🏼) was studying Interior Design, juggling family life and taking on projects alongside my degree. Back then the business wasn’t called Vivus, the team was just me, and most of the work happened from a desk at home surrounded by samples and the distractions of a busy family house.

Fast forward a few years and we’ve moved studios, grown the team and worked on all sorts of projects, from family homes and heritage buildings to leisure, hospitality and commercial spaces.

One thing that has stayed pretty consistent is our curiosity. We still get excited about new ideas, new challenges and seeing where each project takes us. We genuinely love hearing about our clients, their story, how they live and how they want to feel in their space. More often than not, that’s where the best ideas begin.

As you’ll see from the last slide, no two projects ever look quite the same. That’s intentional, and the result of working with different people, buildings and briefs.

May moments 🌱

1) A fire pit that started as a simple brief (chairs and a fire) evolved by us into something much more considered; using the natural fall of the ground to sink it into the landscape, with bespoke finishes, integrated lighting and every measurement worked out to frame the views to the sea and woodland.

2) Colour and fabric combination options for a new kitchen and breakfast room design.

3) A cue case installed in the library and games room by , looking fantastic next to the bookshelves.

4) Site meetings - progress, updates and seeing everything come together on a projects.

5-6) A three hour design presentation - trays of schemes laid out room by room.

7) Recent entrance joinery by .carpentry.iow which works beautifully within the wider scheme.

8) A sourcing trip - part of our full design service, where we’re involved with suppliers, materials and design decisions throughout the construction phase.

9) A thatched cottage refurb we’re enjoying. Designing around the character and context of a building like this is one of our favourite kinds of project.

Before and after of this ensuite. Removing an additional door to the hallway gave us the space to fit both bath and shower. Finished off with marble tiles and a statement sink - what more do you need? 😉

A Primary Bedroom suite from a Ryde project completed last year. We love how cosy this space is - the panelling adds texture, colour and.. those wall lights! 😍 The pendants were the perfect choice for the scale of the vaulted ceiling, and the little seating nook completes it.

have worked their magic with these spaces and flow of the bedroom, dressing room and ensuite, they connect together perfectly. Swipe to see all three spaces.

Working with the clients, we suggested the furniture, colour, finishes, fabrics and lighting throughout - plus the ensuite tiling, sanitaryware and fixtures, and the joinery design for the dressing room. Swipe for all spaces.

Studio update ✨

We’re really pleased to welcome Natalie to Vivus as our new Senior Designer.

Natalie comes from a background in luxury residential and yacht design, with experience across a number of well-regarded studios and global brands.

Such a wonderful addition to our little studio - we’re really pleased she’s joined the team 🥳

As the days are getting longer, it suddenly feels like outdoor spaces are back on the agenda ✨ We’re working on balconies, kitchens, fire pits, pools and terraces - always designing with flow and connection in mind.

Here’s a few inside / outside spaces we love.

Introducing this little beauty of a shower room, we think it might just be one of our favourites.

We paired William Morris ‘Mary Isobel’ wallpaper, with colour on the panelling and honed amber marble floor tiles with herringbone amber marble mosaic in the shower. We slightly altered the layout so it’s still functional with lots of storage tucked in, every area utilised given its relatively small space.

It’s one of those rooms that gives you a small lift the moment you walk in. A proper little glimpse of joy 💛

Here’s a little something soft and light to break up these moody, dreary days - how many days has it been raining now?

We’ve been busy behind the scenes - our projects always seem to move in phases, and right now we have a few lovely cottage properties underway, extending and reworking them into a beautiful mix of old meets new. As always, we’re careful to stay sympathetic to the building while giving it a fresh lease of life.

It’s also that time of year when exterior projects start to take shape - quoting for finishes, developing material palettes, refining the design and ensuring everything blends seamlessly back to the interior.

On the interior architecture side, we’re working through a couple of layout redesigns for clients planning renovations this year - exploring options, testing configurations and helping them see what’s truly possible before work begins.

A little commercial work in the mix too, which we always enjoy.
