Another Busy few days in Crieff and Comrie 🌲

This week, we tackled a few more jobs — all conifers, and all in the Crieff and Comrie areas.

Job 1: A Leylandii tree that had sadly died. The customer was heading off on holiday and asked if we could fit the work in beforehand. We managed to shuffle a few things around to make it happen — and judging by the 5-star review she left, she was delighted with both the work and the tidy-up afterwards!

Job 2: A newly moved-in couple keen to start shaping their garden. After getting a few quotes, they chose us as they felt we offered the fairest price. The job involved two Leylandii hedges in the front garden, plus one sycamore and four holly trees at the back. All logs were cut to firewood size for the customer, and we donated the woodchip locally to a caravan park.

A productive start to the week at Crieff Hydro, where we’ve proudly managed the estate grounds for the past four years.

This week, we safely dismantled a decaying silver birch tree located near the Action Glen Adventure Park. The tree had rotted at the roots, posing a risk to the many families who visit the area daily.

Despite the strong winds, the tree was dismantled swiftly and safely with zero disruption to the day-to-day operations of the estate.

We didn’t carry out any chipping on this occasion — all the brash was happily donated to the pygmy goats for a well-earned snack!
The remaining timber was neatly stacked and will be seasoned and used as firewood for the site’s lodges and chalets with wood-burning stoves.

A fun (but very windy!) job this week in Crieff, dismantling two-thirds of this mature cedar tree. 🌬️🌲

The customer asked for a height reduction after the top section failed a few weeks ago — understandably, as it was quite close to the house. We left one-third of the tree standing, as it still makes a lovely feature in the garden.

All the timber was cut into manageable lengths, ready for chopping into firewood, and the remaining waste was chipped and removed from site.

Before & after.

A quick tidy up in time for summer! The team cut back a Leylandii hedge, laurel tree and plenty holly to open up the home owners garden, letting in a lot more light allowing the grass to grow and flowers to flourish. Get in touch for a free quote or advice!

A complete sycamore dismantle carried out in Crieff this week. This was a challenging one as it was on a very steep hill overhanging two static homes.
The whole tree had to be rigged down slowly and under full control with ropes and pulleys.
All the timber was removed to be processed in to firewood and all the brash was chipped to be turned in to biomass.

A big Scot’s pine dismantled this week that had to be rigged and slowly lowered to avoid any damage to the shed underneath. This eucalyptus had failed during storm Eowyn and this Monday we got the call to come and remove it. The customer wanted the whole tree removed which we were happy to do for them with all logs cut up in to manageable sizes ready to be split for firewood. A quick up and down oak removal in a rainy Comrie today. The tree was very rotten at the bottom and would have damaged a garage if it had failed.
