Big project and big colours in this job as is always the case with this existing customer in Hawkedon.
Major bathroom refurbishment project which was booked in from 2023, started it mid February 2024.
As you can see it was a complete reconfiguration of the old upstairs layout.
Customer had removed a lot of the old studwork, I took over from there.
New bathroom now much bigger with the existing bedroom alongside also changing slightly.
Being grade 2 listed it through up the usual problems of levels etc.
Customer wanted a feature green oak wall detail just above the toilet, panelling at a metre height round perimeter and some very wacky tiles to cubicle and floor!
Customer took on there own painting I completed everything else apart from sanitary wear, which I must get back to take photo of now irs all in.
There are still a few small jobs to be completed but the customer wanted to be using it as its the only shower/ WC they have.

This was my first job for the new year 2025, not really sure why I haven't posted it yet!?
This was for a new customer; Brian Hazell, Mill Road, Rickinghall.
Great guy to work for very easy going.
The job basically started as exposing the old load bearing beam from the horrible boxing.
Once I informed him that this room will be a mirror image of the room next door with all ceiling joists running off the main beam, things escalated from there.
Even exposed some original timbers on what was tge old external wall that now divides this and the kitchen.
Panelling was part of the original project.
Nice job to be involved with, if a little dusty at times!

Just recently completed this panelling and wallpapering job for a new customer in Stanton who contacted me last December.
Very booked up so this was my nearest opportunity toget onto it.
She'd seen a previous job of mine with similar style and wanted toget that kind of look in the front entrance hallway which was looking a little tired.
All built from moisture resistant MDF apart from outer framing which was standard softwood.
All finished in Dearle colour eggshell from Morris & Co.
Built the cupboard in the corner to match everything else and to hide the untidy electrics.
Everything above the metre line of panelling was wallpapering, again in Morris & Co.
Nice customer to work for, very easy going and kept me supplied with coffees and tea throughout.
The customer was very pleased with the outcome and praised my work which is always appreciated!
The down side is all this work has left the floor looking a little dated now.
Never know I may be needed in the future to put this right!

Worked on this big bathroom refurbishment back in March,April 2024 at Falcons Hall.
Big undertaking this one starting with a big strip out job, removing the existing ceiling and 100 yrs + of rubbish in the loft.
Raised the ceiling height to give us more headroom for the overall room and gain height for the shower cubicle area.
This still left the existing floor with a huge discrepancy in the middle. With straight edge on the top line wall to wall the middle was about 50-70mm difference!
The option of levelling it out was out of the question as we would be back to where we started.
Once the original floorboards were secured, overlayed these with 12mm ply at 90° screwed and glued then overlayed the ply with 9mm hardiback board at 90° screwed and glued. Took the very worse of the dip out with levelling compound.
Advised on a smaller floor tile to give more tolerance over this area and with more grout joints.
It actually came out really well and the fact you can see the dip adds to the character and period of this place.

Into the new year and jobs are already booked in plus a few gaps early on for extra ones, which this one was.
Only went here to look at some floor tiling that I'd put myself forward to do on the next-door site. It ended up being the refurbishment of two complete bathrooms.
Lovely people to work for at the Tudor Limes in Redgrave, and just a nice place to work.
A local Plumber that I'd worked with in the past was already on board to do his work. I carried out all the preparation work to the floor, all tiling and panel work , carpentry alterations which included a new doorway in the second bathroom with an old reclaimed pinedoor saved from a skip being used!
I took everything to a primer stage on the decorating side, customer finished it all off including the wallpapering. I think they made a nice job considering some of the shapes to the walls!
The electrical alterations were organised through me with a local tradesman I use.
The old tiles were kept in the first bathroom and I panelled round them I think this looks quite quirky!
Both jobs came out well, and I really enjoyed working on them.
I think the colours and style they chose in both rooms has really complimented this property, and given it a well earnt face-lift internally.

A few more jobs to put on, starting with this one at Falcons Hall, Rickinghall.
Been back and forth to this place a few times now to do various jobs.
This work was carried out in the main living room back in Dec 2023 and continuing into Jan.
All very traditional with this one keeping to the look of the period of this place.
Double layered architraves with a skirting board block to take 32mm×200mm skirting. All primed up tulip wood. Some tricky bits in here with the shape to some of the walls and fitting onto some of the original door linings.
Pictures arn't the best, i will get some better ones at some point now the room has been decorated.
Nice job to work on and a leisurely 5min drive up the road!

December 2023 and back to a customer of mine in Sapiston to make a few changes in the kitchen.
The existing cooker had finally packed up after all these years so a new one was needed. Unfortunately the aperture size was only made for this cooker and not a 600mm appliance.
All alterations were made to the oak worktop in situ, removed existing base end panels and made up new ones in reduced thickness to gain space.
Removed all existing built-in extractor and fitted new stainless steal chimney extractor.
Made alterations to cornice and tiled 4 course brick bond pattern above worktop and right up to extractor in a vertical brick bond style.
Interesting colour of tiles and grout chosen by customer which actually worked really well.

Built this little internal storage unit for a customer of mine at Chestnut Farm, Allwood Green back in November 2023.
It's just to close off all the mains electrics coming into the grain barn where there was a leak the previous year which isn't ideal over the top of this lot!
Nice simple little job, it was bloody freezing in there!

Back to October 2023 when once again it was time for some more improvements to West View in Hawkedon.
This old ugly boxed dormer section to the rear was done back in the early 90's before certain changes came in for listed properties, hence the ugly upvc windows on this lovely cottage.
It was time for a refurb! We still had to stick to the overall size but the weatherboarding sections in-between two of the windows was made bigger and window positions moved slightly.
Reduced the overall depth of the original fascia and made alterations to soffit.
Cleaned up and refitted the original guttering and downpipe sections.
Brother helped out on the painting as there was lots to do!
