⚡️Let's talk consumer units- commonly known as fuse boards⚡️

We found this beauty whilst carrying out other works on this domestic property on a 1970s estate in the heart of county durham.

One of the main issues with this installation is the complete lack of RCD protection, also the condition of the board was showing signs of heavy tarnishing, loose fuse carriers and a floating neutral bar amongst other issues.

After consulting with the customer it was agreed that a EICR was to be carried out, to ensure the existing wiring was in a healthy condition to allow a new consumer unit to be installed.

With testing carried out and the condition being healthy, a new consumer unit was fitted with:
✅️ Type A RCBOs
✅️ Type 2 surge protection device
✅️ 25mm tails incoming tails
✅️ 16mm earth
✅️ 10mm water and gas earth bonds
✅️ Fully tested with Electrical installation certificate and part P building control notification

SAFTEY CHECK- SMOKE ALARMS ✅️

The smoke detector pictured looks pretty new right?

Its been tested regularly by the homeowner and sirens on the test button.

❗️This unit requires replacing, as it is past its intended life span❗️

Most manufacturers for both mains and battery powered units state there products must be changed every 10 years.

🚗Professional EV Charger Installation Completed🚗

This week, we successfully installed a new Zappi EV charger for a client in Durham, who recently acquired a Renault 5e.

Our comprehensive installation included:

A 7.2kW Zappi Glo EV charger.
An EV distribution board equipped with a double-pole RCD and SPD.
EV ultra cable for both power and data connectivity.
Integrated load and solar management systems.

The system underwent thorough testing and commissioning, followed by a complete handover and demonstration for the client.

All necessary documentation, including the Electrical Installation Certificate, Part P Building Control notification, and Northern Power Grid registration, has been provided.
