We recently cut back this winter jasmine to provide better access along the path and reduce growth away from the windows. Best done after flowering, the shrub will have the rest of the year to green up before flowering again next winter.

The warmer days of spring are a great time to tackle weedy and bare patches of lawn. These grass steps are particularly prone to wear and tear. After application of an organic lawn treatment to help remove any moss, we have hand-weeded, aerated the soil, applied lawn dressing and re-seeded. In a few weeks they will have filled out with fresh new grass.

Wisteria season is just magical - twisted vines and cascading blooms that make you stop and stare, accompanied by their heavenly scent. My personal favourite is the white 'Alba' variety.

Often seen climbing up walls and covering pergolas, Wisteria is not just for large gardens. It can happily be trained to grow as a standard or even into an umbrella-shaped canopy.

Having been neglected for a number of years, back in February we were brought in to undertake restoration pruning on this overgrown rambling rose. Many old dead stems were removed, and those remaining were lifted up and tied into newly installed support wires on the roof. It was lovely to return this week and find lots of healthy new growth - we'll be looking forward to seeing the flowers soon!
