ST JAMES’S STREET (WESTMINSTER, LONDON). Behind London’s grandiose facades is an unseen world of lightwells, ceramic brickwork and bewildering extensions and services. Designed by MJP Architect and Short & Associates for world renown wine merchants , this gleaming rear elevation cheered us up on a gloomy day. Peaking above the parapets, this glimpse of white masonry and playful openings suggests a wonderful reworking of traditional lightwell.
