Iain Gaul Architects have been successful in obtaining a planning consent for six new build houses on a brownfield site at Eskbank, Midlothian. Car ports with garages within the rear gardens have been provided to link the properties and to ensure that the development is not dominated by cars. A line of trees is to be planted adjacent to the adjacent A7 road.

This photo illustrates the transformation of an existing farm steading into residential units. This is the second of three courtyards formed around this Category B listed development. There were may challenges with this development with the repairs and replacement to much of the natural stonework and the rebuilding of the hexagonal Horsemill building being the stand out challenges.

These are photos of a recent house renovation and extension within Wester Coates Terrace in Edinburgh. A comprehensive renovation has been completed which includes the demolition of a previous extension and its replacement with a more contemporary living/dining/kitchen space. A new master bedroom suite with en suite and walk in wardrobe has been added within an enlarged main roof.

Iain Gaul Architects were appointed to assist Taylor Wimpey East Scotland to obtain a planning consent for this large housing development in South Queensferry. The layout accommodates Taylor Wimpey's own house design but the apartments were design by Iain Gaul Architects. Challenges included a noise problem from the adjacent A90 and level issues at the entrance into the site.

Iain Gaul Architects have worked consistently for a number of years for Taylor Wimpey, both East and West Scotland and have assisted in the design of almost half of the current 26 sites which they operate from across the cental belt.
