Back to old school steel gate this week. Nice simple design requested by the customer. Powder coat finish in black for durability. DEA sliding gate operator installed complete with safety edges and safety beams to ensure full compliance. Acuvox cloud based intercom system allowing calls through to a monitor in the house and also calling on a phone application.

Bi parting barriers this week. Site was fitted with one barrier 8m long. The barrier was beginning to have issues due to age. Site also requested that the barrier opened more quickly. The original intercom system had additional parts fitted inside the barrier casing making repairs and changes difficult to make
Solution, install a pair of barriers which allow vehicles to pass through more quickly. Intercom system was re wired and the parts relocated into a separate enclosure.
Customer is very happy with the work and the residents have a reliable system for the foreseeable future.

What do you do when the customer has a massive sliding gate which is dangerous to use. Offer options for replacement. This was a large entrance and removal alone, involved a hiab lorry and cherry picker to be able to complete removal.
The customers final decision, remove gate and install a new barrier complete with bottom skirt. This yard is mainly used for deliveries. So they needed an intercom to call through to the security office. The solutions for this involved an Ultimation Direct heavy duty commercial barrier. Laser safety and exit device. Alongside an Acuvox intercom system. This was chosen as there is no cable link to the security office. A SIM card at the barrier and a connection to WiFi in the office and that problem was solved.

Spot the difference........ Two entrances and the same gates.
Its nice to get to install steel gates once in a while. This house just wouldn't have looked right with a set of contemporary aluminium gates. The customer chose the design and then we worked with them to get the heights and curve to how they wanted. Two sets of gates were installed using DEA Ghost operators in the ground below. For those of you interested in how they work, we have included a photo of the inside of one of the underground operators.
Original intercom was reused on this installation and connected into the new gate system.
The gates certainly complement the house and finish it off.

Sometimes it is nice to be asked for something a little bit different.
This customer wanted to secure their entrance but make it easy to use their mobility scooter to exit.
Anthracite Grey aluminium gates, mounted to steel posts and fitted with a DEA Sting swing gate operator for reliability and safety. Customer was supplied with transmitters to make it easy for them to use. A Videx intercom was installed to replace an original system in place. Exit for visitors is easy using the post mounted button on the inside. Two pairs of safety beams prevent the gates closing onto persons using the gates.

Over the past two weeks we have been busy updating three existing gate systems. Two pedestrian gates and a large vehicle gate. All re hinged to make them safer and fitted with all new automation.

Sometimes we are asked to look at gate systems where the gates are in great condition. Automation systems naturally wear and degrade over time. Replacement of the underground automation which was beyond economic repair, has brought this system back into a reliable condition.

Aluminium, timber or steel?
What type of material should I use for my new gates. This is one of the biggest decisions when installing a new gate. Each one has its positives and negatives. However, the aesthetics of your property do somewhat guide what will look correct.
Whether you want to complete ongoing upkeep of the gates is also a big factor. Timber gates for example, require the finish on them to be regularly checked and re done to protect the condition of the timber. Whereas a powder coated steel or a fully painted aluminium gate can be cleaned down to keep them looking as good as new.
This is just one of the aspects to consider when purchasing a new gate.

Upgrade of a very old gate this week. Customer had an old and faulty gate system and needed to keep their anxious dog on their property. Being a big dog, we suggested a higher gate of a similar style. The gate was manufactured and supplied by Suffolk Gates & Automation to their superb quality. Existing posts reused as they were in a suitable condition. New 24v mechanical operator, additional safety and a new magnetic lock fitted. System left working and customer happy with the end result.
