Shaun and Jayden attended a homeowner on Perry Mead, Enfield EN2 today after receiving a worried call first thing this morning.

Her door had been getting progressively worse and last night it finally reached the point where she couldn't open it at all.

Thankfully, the property has a side door, so she wasn't trapped and could safely get in and out.

However, there was another reason she needed the problem resolved quickly — she is selling the property and was expecting someone to view it that afternoon.

On inspection, we found the problem was an alignment issue.

Shaun and Jayden carried out the necessary adjustments to realign the door. Once everything was brought back into the correct position, the difference was clear: the door was opening and closing exactly as it should again.

If your door is becoming progressively harder to operate, don't wait until it completely stops opening or locking.

Getting an alignment issue dealt with early can save a lot of unnecessary stress.

Alex attended a homeowner on Auber Close in Hoddesdon EN11 today after a pair of double doors had fallen out of alignment.

The problem had reached the point where the customer couldn't properly close the doors, which also meant they couldn't lock and secure them.

Rather than assuming there was a problem with the locking mechanism, Alex assessed the doors and identified the alignment issue.

Both doors required adjustment.

Alex carefully realigned the pair, bringing everything back into the correct position so the doors could close and lock correctly again.

Once the adjustments were completed, everything was thoroughly tested and the property was left safe and secure.

Door alignment problems are worth dealing with early. If your doors start catching, become difficult to close or require increasing force to lock, don't keep forcing them. Getting the underlying alignment corrected can potentially prevent damage to perfectly good locking components.

Alex attended a property on Filbert Close in Hatfield AL10 today for one of our account customers after the previous tenant had moved out.

Unfortunately, there was no spare key available to access the property.

The property manager therefore instructed us to gain access, replace the existing lock and install a key safe at the property.

Alex gained access and carried out the requested lock change before installing the key safe.

The new lock and key safe were fully tested to ensure everything was operating correctly.

All work was completed as instructed by the property manager, with the property left secure.

Jobs like this form an important part of the locksmith services we provide to our property management and account customers, allowing access and security requirements to be dealt with in a single visit.

Alex attended an emergency job on West Riding Street, St Albans AL2 after a homeowner lost the only key to his lock.

With no spare key available, the homeowner was left unable to properly secure the property and needed the problem resolved.

Alex attended and replaced the existing 5-lever lock, removing the issue of the missing key and restoring the homeowner's ability to secure the door.

After installation, the new lock was thoroughly tested to make sure everything was operating correctly.

Most importantly, the homeowner was no longer left with a property he couldn't properly secure.

Another emergency locksmith job completed with the property left safe and secure.

Alex attended an emergency locksmith job on Newton Road SG2 today after a customer found themselves unable to open their door.

On inspection, the problem was traced to the locking mechanism. The gearbox had stopped operating correctly and the latch would no longer retract, leaving the door unable to open.

Alex successfully gained access and then investigated whether the existing gearbox could be repaired.

We always prefer to repair something when it's genuinely possible rather than automatically replacing parts. Unfortunately, in this case the gearbox had reached the point where it was beyond repair.

Alex removed the failed gearbox and installed a replacement.

Once fitted, the complete door and locking system were thoroughly tested to ensure everything was operating correctly.

The customer was left with their door opening, closing and locking properly again.

Shaun and Jayden attended a homeowner on Clydesdale in Enfield EN3 today after her door had become increasingly difficult to lock.

Yesterday, it reached the point where she couldn't lock it at all.

Importantly, she didn't keep forcing it.

Instead, she decided to get the underlying problem looked at before potentially damaging the handle, gearbox or other locking components.

After inspecting the door, we carried out a number of adjustments to realign it. Once completed, the door was thoroughly tested and was locking correctly again.

Before leaving, we also showed the homeowner how we'd realigned the door and how she could make the adjustment herself if the issue returned.

Will every customer want to do this themselves? Probably not. But we'll still take the time to explain and show them.

We're a small family-run business. Providing a good service and protecting our reputation means more to us than trying to create another future job.
