Tazetta × Poeticus 🤝

This marriage brings together the best of both parents.
From Tazettas:
- Multi‑flowered stems.
- Sweet fragrance.
- Graceful form.
From Poeticus:
- Improved hardiness.
- A slightly spicier, more complex scent.
- Stronger garden performance in cooler climates.

Poetaz varieties typically carry fewer flowers per stem than true Tazettas, but they’re far more reliable in UK winters, making them an excellent choice for gardeners who want the Tazetta look without the tenderness.

- Strong, sweet fragrance.
- Short, shallow cups with white, cream, yellow, or orange colouring.

Summer-Flowering Anemones: A touch of mediterranean magic in the summer garden. 🌸🏵

These anemones (Anemone coronaria) trace their origins to the eastern Mediterranean. In the wild they grow in sun‑washed meadows and rocky hillsides, emerging after winter rains and flowering in great, colourful drifts. Their native climate explains their preferences in UK gardens: moisture in spring, warmth in summer, and soil that drains freely.

✨Daffodil of the week✨

Hello May! 👋

This week we’ve got ‘Rose of May’.

This is a delicately scented, all white, double daffodil standing at around 40-60cm tall and measuring approximately 65mm wide.

Top tip: As with all later varieties, keep them well watered and make sure they don’t dry out. Otherwise the bud can form but not produce a flower.

Planting and flowering:
This daffodil is best planted between September and October, ready to flower very late (May).

All of our flowers are available online at: www.scampsbulbs.co.uk

Daffodils or Narcissus? 🤔

This is one of the most common questions we hear! Short answer: they are the same plant.

Narcissus is the botanical (Latin) name for the entire genus. ‘Daffodil’ is the common English name used for all garden varieties.
